  • Patent number: 4563567
Abstract: Apparatus for transmitting a beam of energy includes a first arm formed by a hollow tube, which is rotatable about its own axis, a second arm formed by two half-arms, arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the first tube and movable with respect thereto by means of an articulation, and a third arm formed by a hollow tube, articulated to the half-arms by two intermediate parts.

  • Patent number: 4491717
Abstract: A radiation-tight coupling arrangement for coupling a machining laser to a hot cell containing radioactive material, comprising a cell flange integrally formed on the confinement wall which defines a cell opening, a cell door formed to interlock tightly with the cell flange, thereby closing the cell opening, an elongated container movably arranged in the sleeve and having a container flange defining a container opening and connected by a sealing bellows, a container door formed to interlock tightly with the container flange and to interlock with the cell door when the container flange interlocks with the cell flange, and a machining line translationally arranged in the container. When the container is in a retracted position, a radiation blocking drum intervenes between the cell opening and the container opening. The radiation blocking drum is rotated to allow the container to translate toward the cell.

  • Patent number: 4485068
Abstract: Installation for the storage and/or transfer of dangerous products, wherein it comprises a storage enclosure defining at least one loading and unloading station and a plurality of storage stations, modules each of which receives the dangerous products such as fuel assemblies, each of these modules being located in one of the stations defined in the enclosure, the number of modules being less than that of the stations, lifting means for creating a fluid cushion below at least part of the modules in order to raise the latter within the enclosure and means for moving the modules between the different stations when they are raised by the lifting means.

  • Patent number: 4328071
Abstract: Tubes or cables designated as ducts and extending through a movable component which is capable of rotational motion about a vertical axis are supported between a fixed point located externally of the movable component and a second point which is located on the vertical axis of rotation of the component and constitutes the extremity of the supporting means. The portions of ducts located between the extremity of the supporting means and the center of rotation of the movable component are guided and maintained in uniformly spaced relation on a ruled surface of revolution about the axis of said movable component so that the duct portions thus form a bundle-type assembly. Means are further provided for securing the lower extremity of the guiding means to the movable component at the center of rotation of this latter.

  • Patent number: 3943756
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for inspecting at a distance walls which are difficult of access such as metal walls forming a nuclear reactor vessel. The device comprises a detector secured to a slide movable along guide rails attached to a frame. Probes bearing on the metal walls are secured to a plate on the frame, each probe transmitting a signal proportional to the distance between the guide rails and the place where the probe bears on the part of the wall to be checked. The device includes two motors secured to a second frame and which are controlled by electrical signals from the probes. Each motor actuates a pinion engaging the racks secured by pivots to the first frame and the two ends of the guide rails. A potentiometric monitoring device stops the motors when the signals proportional to the distance between the wall and guide rails as measured by the probes are equal to one another and to a controlled value. The detector preferably comprises an assembly of transducers and ultrasonic receivers.
