  • Patent number: 6230152
Abstract: Fuzzy logic controller for a queue manager that services a plurality of queues in an iterative fashion, each queue containing an indeterminate number of elements, the manager iteratively servicing each of the plurality of queues in accordance with a dequeuing quantity parameter, Q. The controller comprises a device for determining an amount of queues having remaining elements after each servicing iteration and outputting the amount; a device for comparing the difference between a system output representing an amount of queues having remaining elements in a current iteration with a previous output representing an amount of queues having remaining elements in a predecessor iteration, the output difference indicating a first dequeuing trend; and, a device for adjusting the dequeuing quantity parameter Q based on the dequeuing trend, the adjusting device capable of driving the system output toward a predetermined setpoint quantity after each servicing iteration.

  • Patent number: 5776020
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tensioning device for dampening vibrations generated in a striking surface of a sporting racquet. The tensioning device has a tubular body portion having cylindrical outer and inner walls and two end surfaces. The cylindrical outer wall has a diameter substantially equal to a spacing formed by two generally parallel strings of the sporting racquet. A dampening unit is disposed inside the tubular body portion. The dampening unit has a center post substantially concentric with the tubular body portion and plural leaf members connecting the center post to the inner wall of the tubular body portion. The tensioning device also has two sets of flange members extending radially outwardly from the outer wall of the tubular body portion and near the end surfaces respectively. The two sets of flange members define a peripheral channel portion therebetween to accommodate strings of the sporting racquet whereby the tensioning device is retained in place.

  • Patent number: 5456030
Abstract: A coupling device or "quick coupler" which permits the rapid connecting and disconnecting of implements to an earth-working device having a hoe boom comprising at least one primary lifting arm fitted for a hinge pin and a "curling linkage" mechanism having either two idler links and a power link, or a single part functioning as an idler link interacting with a power link, either alternative being powered by hydraulic cylinder(s) and fitted for a link pin. The quick coupler has a housing, which can be temporarily attached to the hoe boom using the hinge and link pins or can be built into the hoe boom itself, and which contains a connection for attaching the coupling device to a variety of implements. The effective operating distance or range of motion of the connector can be adjusted so that the coupler can be used with various implements having different center line distances between the hinge and link pins.

  • Patent number: 5022651
Abstract: A device for changing the vibrations in the striking surface of a hand held sporting racquet having strings, the device comprising a block of one or more rigid materials having a cut-out mounting groove along the periphery of the block so as to have the block engage a set of adjacent strings when inserted between strings on the striking surface of the sporting racquet.
