  • Patent number: 11047409
Abstract: A device for securing threaded rod relative to concrete and metal decking is provided. The device can include a housing with a securement portion and a flange, at least two plunger pieces that can be disposed within the securement portion, a first biasing member that can be arranged within the securement portion to urge the plunger pieces into engagement with the threaded rod, a bracket that can be disposed around a portion of the housing to provide rigid positioning of the housing to secure the housing perpendicular to the metal decking when concrete is poured over the metal decking, and a second biasing member that can be disposed around a portion of the housing to bias the flange away from the metal decking.

  • Patent number: 9915277
Abstract: A device for securing threaded rod can include a housing and a threaded rod locking mechanism. The housing can include a rod locking body with a tapered bore, and a housing extension extending from an end of the rod locking body. The threaded rod locking mechanism can include two plunger pieces, each of which are movable within the tapered bore and include a respective threaded inner surface and a respective sloped outer surface that can engage the tapered bore. The threaded rod locking mechanism can also include a spring disposed within the tapered bore to bias the plunger pieces towards a narrow end of the tapered bore. The plunger pieces can be urged towards each other and towards an axis of the tapered bore by contact between the outer surfaces of the plunger pieces and an internal surface of the tapered bore.

  • Patent number: 9746019
Abstract: A securement device includes a pair of plungers movable within a housing. The plungers act as quick lock mechanism to engage and secure a threaded rod (or other object) that passes into a hole that runs through the housing. The plungers are spring-biased to position themselves toward so as to provide a radially inward force, for example to engage a threaded rod or device in the through hole in the housing. A spring within the housing presses the plunger pieces toward a portion of the housing where the outer surfaces engage other surfaces to push the plungers inward. The device includes a disengagement feature or mechanism that is used to push the plunger pieces out of engagement with the threaded rod. The disengagement feature may include a disengagement tool, and may include wings, such as on the plungers or on carriers for the plungers, that protrude out of the housing.

  • Patent number: 9303676
Abstract: A threaded rod hanger has quick lock plunger mechanism that includes plunger pieces within a tapered hole in a housing. The plunger pieces have tapered outer surfaces. A spring within the housing presses the plunger pieces toward the narrow end of the bore, with the spring located between the plunger pieces and a back plate that closes off part of a wide end of the tapered bore. The plunger pieces have internally threaded surfaces that engage threads on a threaded rod that is inserted into the bore, between the plunger pieces. Once the threaded rod has been inserted between the plunger pieces and released, the plunger pieces are pushed toward the narrow bore end. This causes the plunger pieces to press inward, automatically causing the internal plunger half threads to engage the external threads on the threaded rod.

  • Patent number: 8840071
Abstract: A J-hook cable support includes a semicircular saddle, a stem at one side of the saddle, and a tip at the other side of the saddle. The stem includes protruding tabs able to engage snap-on brackets in order to engage structural parts, or to couple multiple cable supports together. The stem may have two pairs of tabs at different heights along the stem away from the saddle. The tabs may be bent pieces of the metal of the stem, bent toward the back of the stem, away from the cable-receiving area defined by the saddle. The snap-on brackets may include one or more pairs of notches for engaging the tabs of one or more of the cable supports. A wire retainer may be used to close off the cable-receiving area, with the wire coupled to both the tip and the stem.

  • Patent number: 8573543
Abstract: A clamp includes first and second parts, each of the parts having a circular central section and a pair of straight extensions extending away from the circular central section in opposite directions. In the first part the holes are closed holes, while in the second part the holes are open holes, connected by slots to an upper edge of the part. Bolts may be pre-located through the closed holes, with nuts threaded onto the bolts, but not tightened. The pre-placed bolts may be received through the slots and into the open holes of the second part. The nuts may then be tightened against the second part to clamp the circular central sections on opposite sides of a circular object, such as a vertical pipe run, between the parts. According to a variant, the bolts are permanently secured to the first part so as to prevent rotation of the bolts.

  • Patent number: 8191880
Abstract: A ground conductor clamp has a sheet metal clamp body with overlapped portions. The clamp body may be stamped from sheet metal. The overlapped portions have aligned circular holes in them for receiving a threaded insert nut inserted into them. The insert nut is spin riveted to attach it to the overlapped portions of the clamp body. A flange of the insert nut has a flat face that engages the clamp body to prevent rotation of the insert nut. The overlapped portion includes an inner bent tab that strengthens the sheet metal clamp body. The clamp also includes a threaded fastener, such as a bolt, that is threaded into the insert nut to engage a conductive lead and a ground conductor, such as a ground rod or ground electrode.
