  • Patent number: 7114984
Abstract: A lever-style de-latch mechanism for a pluggable electronic module, such as an SFP MSA fiber optic transceiver or other pluggable optoelectronic or electronic module. The mechanism is easily accessible to an operator and does not require any tools to operate. The mechanism uses rotational motion of a lever about a horizontal axis transverse to a horizontal direction of elongation of a module, or about a vertical axis (relative to a module extending in a horizontal plane), to cause translational motion of the de-latch actuator. Mechanisms including both T and bail latch style levers are provided. The lever may be adjacent to, or extend beyond, the front/face of the module's housing for tool-free accessibility and operation. The mechanism may allow the user to apply force to actuate the mechanism in a direction that does not oppose a withdrawal and/or module ejection force.

  • Patent number: 7070446
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly is shown having a stamped and formed shielded cage having a plurality of ports for receiving SFP modules. The cages have an opening extending through a lower face thereof for receiving a header connector having first and second extensions which are aligned with the first and second columnar ports in the cage. Thus, the SFP modules are pluggable into individual ports, whereby two modules are interconnected to a single header connector interconnected to a motherboard.

  • Patent number: 6881095
Abstract: A small form-factor (SFP) module for insertion into an SFP cage having a spring latch is provided. The SFP module has a housing with an open ended chamber configured to accept a plug. A latch tab is formed on and projects outward from a wall of the housing. The latch tab securely engages the spring latch when the SFP cage and module are engaged with one another. The SFP module also includes a pull release mounted to the housing which is slidable along a range of motion. The pull release has a release member extending outward from a body. The release member moves along a side of the latch tab to a fully released position to disengage the spring latch from the latch tab.

  • Patent number: 6805573
Abstract: A small footprint plugable (SFP) connector module is provided having a housing carrying contacts at a lead end that are configured to be inserted into a cage. The housing has a rear end configured to be connected to a cable. The housing has a wall with a module latch formed thereon. The module latch is configured to engage a cage latch on a cage. The connector module also includes a lever beam slidably mounted to the wall of the housing. The lever beam is movable to a position proximate the module latch to release the module latch from the cage latch. The connector module also includes a lever arm rotatably mounted to the housing. The lever arm drives the lever beam to the position porximate the module latch when the lever arm is rotated.

  • Patent number: 6663439
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided including a housing and a cap having a first end that engages a mating contact and an open second end. The electrical connector includes a plunger contact having a first end projecting from the housing that engages a mating contact and a second end with a spring retention area that telescopically communicates with the open second end. The plunger contact and the cap move relative to one another along a contact motion axis. The electrical connector includes a spring provided between the plunger contact and the cap that engages the spring retention area. At least one of the plunger contact and cap include an angled surface that biases the spring at an acute angle to the contact motion axis to induce a lateral binding force between the plunger contact and the cap that causes the plunger contact and the cap to maintain a direct electrical connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6655966
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided having a connector housing with signal modules and grounding members therein. Each of the signal modules has a ground plane on at least one side of each of the signal modules. The ground planes have contact pads formed at opposite ends thereof proximate mating ends of the signal modules. The grounding members interconnect the ground planes on the sides of adjacent signal modules to one another at a point along one of the ground planes and the contact pads. Optionally, the signal modules may include vias having conductive liners therethrough that electrically connect ground planes from opposite sides of a signal module to one another. Alternatively, the signal modules can be printed circuit boards. The signal modules may be arranged parallel to one another within the housing.

  • Patent number: 6626708
Abstract: A one-piece electrical contact is disclosed which includes an upper movable contact portion and a lower and fixed contact portion, which is mountable to a printed circuit board. The top contact portion and printed circuit board portion are interconnected by way of an integral and intermediate sinuous spring. The top contact portion is skewed relative to the plane of the sinuous spring, whereby a force on the top contact portion, not only moves the sinuous spring in the vertically downward position, but also causes a lateral buckling of the spring, forcing the sinuous spring into the rail portions of a rear wall, whereby the electrical path from the contact portion to the printed circuit board contact portion is substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 5465709
Abstract: A single use, disposable, vaginal speculum uses a chemically florescent light tube to provide built-in illumination for the body cavity being examined with the speculum. An integrally molded light tube holder has two opposing walls between which the light tube is inserted. Ridges on the inner surfaces of the opposing walls serve to guide the light tube into position in the speculum and to firmly grasp the light tube so as to prevent dislodgement during the examination. An integral stop member is molded into the light tube holder to terminate the insertion of the light tube into the holder in precisely the position required to properly position the light tube.

  • Patent number: 5271684
Abstract: The preferred embodiment of this disclosure is directed to an antenna connector for a cellular telephone, where such antenna may be rotated from a first position to a second position, such as "use" and "rest" positions, where the preferred rotation extent is about 90.degree.. The connector comprises a fixed support member and a circular housing member mounted therein for rotative movement between such first and second positions. The fixed support member is defined by first and second major faces having a circular opening extending therebetween for receiving the circular housing member, and at least one arcuate recess along the first major face adjacent said opening, where the length thereof extends between the first and second positions. The circular housing member includes a reduced diameter portion extending from one end thereof to an annular shoulder, where the reduced diameter portion is received within the circular opening up to the shoulder.

Abstract: A protective carton for a substantially flat product such as an electrical printed circuit board includes not only parallel rectangular exterior top and bottom panels, parallel rectangular exterior side panels, and parallel rectangular exterior end panels but also rectangular interior top and bottom panels and at least a pair of rectangular interior end panels. Each of the interior end panels forms an acute angle with respect to the interior bottom panel in order to clamp the product securely in place on the interior bottom panel. Each interior end panel is formed by lateral extensions of the interior top and bottom panels, with the lateral extensions of the interior top panels locking the lateral extensions of the interior bottom panel in place. The entire carton may be made of a material such as corrugated cardboard in order to minimize cost and facilitate eventual disposal.
