  • Patent number: 9677504
Abstract: Rockets, rocket motors, methods of controlling a rocket and methods of evaluating a rocket design are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of controlling a rocket may include measuring a combustion chamber pressure, calculating a logarithm of the measured combustion chamber pressure, and computing the difference between the logarithm of the measured combustion chamber pressure and the logarithm of a reference combustion chamber pressure value to generate an error signal. The method may further include filtering the error signal to generate a compensated signal in the logarithm domain, and exponentiating of the compensated signal in the logarithm domain to provide a compensated signal in the physical domain.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 11, 2010
Date of Patent: June 13, 2017
    Assignee: ORBITAL ATK, INC.
Inventors: Sean S. Stroud, Michael J. Piovoso

  • Patent number: 5294998
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of designing a Kaiser window filter. The filter is applied to an input image to generate a resized output image while preserving the information content of the input image. The method of mapping the output image space to the input image space of the present invention aligns the boundaries of the input image space with the boundaries of a set of new input pixels, and the coordinate points of the output pixels map to corresponding coordinate points of the new input pixels.

  • Patent number: 4916625
Abstract: A method for monitoring the operation of a multiposition spinning machine wherein filaments are extruded from a spinning pack at each position and advanced as a yarn bundle in a path, then split at a location into a plurality of threadlines to be forwarded to a plurality of windups to be wound on packages and scheduling events at predetermined times in the preparation of said packages with the aid of a digital computer, the method relies on a program with a knowledge database that includes the operative state of each position, the elapsed time since the initiation of each package, predetermined event times unique to the filaments being wound, the positional configuration of said machine, a hueristic rule base.

  • Patent number: 4237539
Abstract: An automatic on-line computer-aided inspection system for a running web utilizing a transverse web scanning means, detection means incorporating feature extraction and processing circuitry for generating unique output signals corresponding to said web scanning characteristic of web features of inspection interest, means converting the output signals to digital data words input sequentially to a digital computer, said computer applying one or more algorithms to said words, thereby calibrating the values of said features of said words, comparing said calibrated feature values to at least one set of product-qualifying values held in memory, and means responsive to the computer classifying the web as acceptable or non-acceptable as regards areas of preselected marketable size in the web.
