  • Publication number: 20190385410
Abstract: A computer-implemented method may comprise providing a wager-based electronic gaming device (EGD), and displaying a skill-based game environment comprising a plurality of wagering opportunities. Game play may be enabled for a gaming session within the skill-based game environment and wagers enabled through player interactions with the plurality of wagering opportunities using an established account balance. One or more actual skillful player interactions with one or more of the plurality of wagering opportunities may then be received, whereupon one or more wagers may be generated, based upon the received actual skillful player interaction(s) with one or more of the wagering opportunities and one or more actual awards may be computed. One or more theoretical awards to the player may then be determined, had the EGD received one or more selected theoretical player interactions with one or more of the plurality of wagering opportunities on which the wager(s) were generated.

  • Publication number: 20190355216
Abstract: A computer-implemented method may comprise providing a regulated gaming machine and a game in which skilled players most often achieve greater success than less-skilled players. The game may be configured to generate in-game assets configured such that interaction therewith by players during game play selectively triggers wagers. Before the player inputs are used to interact with the in-game assets, random perturbations are introduced in one or more characteristics thereof, the random perturbations being configured such that the selectively triggered wagers, in the aggregate, reward both the skilled players and the less-skilled players according to a predetermined target Return-to-Player (RTP) percentage for the game. The randomly-perturbed player inputs may then be used to interact with the plurality of in-game assets to generate outcomes. Depending upon the generated outcomes, rewards may be provided to and displayed for the players, according to the predetermined target RTP percentage of the game.

  • Publication number: 20190287346
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of determining rewards due to a player while playing a game on a regulated gaming machine may comprise providing a game configured to provide a plurality of in-game assets and a virtual avatar controlled by player inputs to interact with the plurality of in-game assets. A first health status may be established for the virtual avatar. First player inputs may be received and used to control the virtual avatar to interact with in-game assets and to make a first wager having first wager characteristics. As a result, the first health status may change to a higher or lower second health status. Second player inputs may be received to cause the virtual avatar to interact the in-game assets and to make a second wager having second, different, wager characteristics. The difference between the first wager characteristics and the second wager characteristics may be at least partially based upon the second health status.

  • Publication number: 20190287339
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of determining a reward due to a player of a regulated gaming machine may comprise accepting money from a player; rendering a computer-generated landscape on a display; disposing a corresponding plurality of landmarks at respective locations, within the computer-generated landscape, at least one of the plurality of landmarks being a wager-enabled landmark that is configured to initiate a wager; generating a virtual avatar for the player and placing the virtual avatar within the computer-generated landscape; accepting, via a user interface, input from the player to move the generated virtual avatar within the computer-generated landscape; debiting some of the money accepted from the player for each unit of movement of the virtual avatar within the computer-generated landscape; and when inputs are received from the player that cause the virtual avatar to move within the computer-generated landscape to a wager-enabled landmark and that cause the virtual avatar to interact with an in

  • Patent number: 10242539
Abstract: A gaming device including an interface unit configured to accept game play data from a player and a controller coupled to the interface unit. The controller includes a processor and a memory, wherein the memory stores payback data. The processor is configured to receive, via the interface unit, the game play data for the player playing a game, evaluate the received game play data based on predefined criteria, determine a level of skill of the player based at least on the evaluated game play data, and adjust the payback data based on the determined level of skill of the player.

  • Patent number: 9640017
Abstract: A gaming system is provided in which multiple gaming machines are linked. Each of the machines plays its game and generates at least one outcome. The top or best outcome of each machine is submitted, e.g., to a comparator or server computer for ranking. An award is provided for a certain percentage such as one-half of the highest ranked outcomes. The award is made available to the gaming machine, but a player must be wagering on the associated outcome producing event (such as the payline) to receive the award. For example, if a player plays only payline one of a multi-line slot machine and payline five of that machine generates the highest ranked result of all linked gaming machines, the award is made available to the gaming machine, but the player does not receive the award. In an embodiment, each linked gaming machine participates in play (all paylines) regardless of whether a player is playing that gaming machine.

  • Patent number: 9257012
Abstract: A gaming system which utilizes a random number generator where the process of selecting one or more seeds for the random number generator includes participation of a player. In one embodiment, the player picks one of a plurality of displayed selections at a gaming device. Each selection is associated with a different external steeling source of data not controlled by the gaming system. A gaming system gathers, the data torn the external seeding sources associated with the different seeds. The gaming system uses the data gathered from the seeding source associated with the player's picked selection to determine one or more seeds. The determined seeds are used to initialize a random number generator, which generates one or more numbers and at least in part determine the outcome of the game.

Based at least in part on wagering activity, the controller determines a ranking for a plurality of gaming devices in the gaming system. The controller determines a plurality of the ranked gaming devices that are eligible for a designated award and, for each of the plurality of eligible gaming devices, determines a probability of being selected to win the designated award. The controller selects at least one of the eligible gaming devices based part on the determined probability for said at least one eligible gaming device, and causes the at least one selected gaming device to provide the designated award.
