  • Patent number: 10522800
Abstract: A battery assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, an enclosure assembly defining an interior and a variable volume device integrated into a wall of the enclosure assembly and configured to modify a volume of the interior.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 30, 2015
Date of Patent: December 31, 2019
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Michael Peter Mongeau, Patrick Daniel Maguire
  • Patent number: 10293783
Abstract: Example systems and methods for a driver detection steering wheel are disclosed. An example disclosed vehicle includes a steering wheel, a driver, a detector, and an enabling module. The example steering wheel includes a plurality of capacitive sensors. The example driver is to change voltage levels on the plurality of capacitive sensors. The example detector is to measure time delays corresponding to the plurality of capacitive sensors, and determine a number of hands on the steering wheel based on the time delays. The example enabling module is to, in response to the detector detecting two hands on the steering wheel, grant access to an infotainment system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 19, 2016
Date of Patent: May 21, 2019
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Michael Frey, Michael Peter Mongeau, Bryce Crane, Kyle Ness
  • Patent number: 10056072
Abstract: Example systems and methods for electronic sound enhancement tuning are disclosed. An example disclosed method includes sampling, with a microphone, an audio profile of engine noises in a cabin of a vehicle. The example method also includes comparing the sampled audio profile to a model audio profile. Additionally, the example methods includes, when the sampled audio profile does not satisfy a similarity threshold, applying a convergence function to the sampled audio profile to generate a target audio profile, and iterating until the target audio profile satisfies a similarity threshold.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 2017
Date of Patent: August 21, 2018
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Athanasios Teknos, Chin Lim Vong, Michael Peter Mongeau
  • Patent number: 9926958
Abstract: A two-part fastener for an assembly having a sealed joint formed by at least two flanges or sealing surfaces. A first flange defines a first opening, a second flange defines a second opening with a seal being disposed between the first and second flanges. The flanges and seal are secured together with a bolt and a receiver that defines a threaded hole for receiving the bolt. The receiver includes an end face engaging the first flange and a shoulder engaging the second flange. The spacing between the end face and the shoulder defines a gap for the seal. The shoulder of the receiver may include a weld bead that is welded to the second flange. In one embodiment, three flanges are assembled together with a seal between each flange.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 29, 2015
Date of Patent: March 27, 2018
    Assignee: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Inventors: Michael Peter Mongeau, Sai K. Perumalla, Rajaram Subramanian, Jason C. Marcath
