Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for attaching one or more ancillary devices to an endoscope. The ancillary device can be any device that is used in conjunction with endoscopic procedures, such as, by way of non-limiting example, an accessory channel, tube, or sleeve, an indwelling tube or feeding tube, and surgical tools such as graspers, snares, etc. The ancillary device(s) can be positioned adjacent to and along side an external surface of an insertion portion of an endoscope for inserting into a body lumen, and one or more attachment devices can be used to mate the ancillary device(s) to the endoscope at one or more attachment locations. In use, the attachment device(s) will allow the ancillary device to move in coordination with the endoscope, thus allowing the endoscope and the ancillary device(s) to be introduced and guided through a tortuous pathway. Abstract: Methods and devices for illuminating a body cavity or an internal region of a body are disclosed. In one aspect, a percutaneous illumination device for illuminating a body cavity includes an elongate member with an illumination source, and two support members disposed on the elongate member that are adapted to be positioned on opposite sides of a tissue surface for stabilizing the device. Variations on such an illumination device, kits that include such devices, and methods of utilizing such devices are all described within the present application.

Abstract: Devices and methods for reducing a size of a lumen are provided. In one embodiment, a lumen reduction device is provided having an end effector with a trough formed therein for receiving tissue surrounding a lumen, and a plurality of fasteners configured to engage the tissue disposed within the trough. In use, the end effector can be actuated to deliver the fasteners to the tissue, and one or more sutures coupled to the fasteners can be used to pull the fasteners together and thereby cinch the tissue to reduce the size of a lumen.

Abstract: Multimedia and multi-content capture device and integration model. A capture device takes raw sensor data and processes it using a set of algorithms stored on the capture device. A processing device communicates with the capture device to reprocess the raw sensor data using the set of algorithms stored on the capture device. The quality of the output from the capture device and the processing device may differ due to the processing capabilities of each device.

Abstract: Techniques relating to spectral color management are described. In one example, a process receives spectral color data associated with a physical color response. In this example the process also processes the spectral color data into device data suitable for a target device while maintaining an ability to replicate the physical color response from the device data.

Abstract: Techniques relating to quantifiable color calibration are described. In one instance, a process quantifiably calibrates a first color peripheral device of a system to a known color standard. The process then leverages the first color peripheral device to calibrate other system color peripheral devices.

Abstract: A surgical stapler having a selectively bendable end effector is provided. A staple holding jaw of the end effector is coupled to another jaw for grasping tissue to be stapled. The stapler can adapted to drive staples into tissue having a pattern conforming with the selected shape of the end effector. In particular, the end effector can be adapted to drive staples in a linear pattern when the end effector orients staples in a substantially linear configuration. The end effector can also be adapted to drive staples in a non linear pattern when the end effector orients staples in a non linear configuration. Methods of stapling tissue with a stapler having a bendable end effector are also discussed.

Abstract: A system and method for selectively setting gamut map model defaults in a color management system is disclosed for transforming colors from a first color space to a second color space. The method includes the steps of comprises determining the profile associated with the second color space from one of an ICC profile, a device model profile and a system default profile; associating a color appearance profile and a gamut mapping profile based on the profile; and selecting at least one of the color appearance and gamut mapping profiles based on the profile associated with the second color space.

Abstract: A surgical stapler is provided having a cartridge arm for holding staples, an anvil pivotally connected thereto to deform fired staples from the cartridge arm, and a support for substantially preventing anvil deflection during staple firing to help insure proper staple formation. Some supports allow pivoting between the anvil and cartridge arm when in a first position, but prevent or hinder the pivoting action when in a second position. Supports can also be adapted to contact the anvil at a distal position relative to the pivot point between the anvil and cartridge arm. Exemplary structures of supports embodied as one or more links or as a sleeve are described. Methods of use are also discussed.

Abstract: The invention discloses a system method for providing new functionality to an operating system while maintaining backward compatibility with existing applications. The invention can provide new functionality while maintaining backward compatibility without a requirement to change any syntax of an API and without having to create new APIs for all functions. The invention can be configured to pass monolithic data as well as modular data through either legacy APIs or newly created APIs.

Abstract: An anchorable cannula adapted for positioning within an opening formed in tissue includes a cannula body having a proximal portion and distal portion. The proximal portion and the distal portion are linked by a circumferential ring positioned therebetween. The proximal portion includes a series of foldable arms extending upwardly from the circumferential ring and ending at a circumferential seal ring formed at a free end of the proximal portion. The distal portion includes a series of foldable arms extending downwardly from the circumferential ring and ending at a circumferential seal ring formed at a free end of the distal portion.

Abstract: A cooling arrangement for an electron collector of an electron beam tube has a plurality of solid dielectric spacers surrounding the corrector with an electrically insulative and thermally conductive dielectric liquid in gaps between the spacers. A water cooling system is arranged in thermal contact with the spacers and the liquid dielectric to provide cooling by water circulation. The cooling arrangement is a hybrid of oil and water cooling systems in which the electrically non conductive oil is arranged in gaps between dielectric spacers, the dielectric spacers provide a support for the surrounding water coolant system and ordinary water may be used to be pumped through the water cooling system.

Abstract: A color engine supports extensibility by allowing plug-ins. The color engine transforms an image file associated with a source device for consumption by a destination device. Within the color engine, a device model operates over a device model profile to generate a gamut boundary shell, which describes the range of colors a device is capable of producing. A color appearance model operates over a color appearance model profile to compensate for external viewing conditions. A gamut map model accepts as input gamut boundary shells describing the source device and the destination device, and operates over a gamut map model profile to generate a transform, which is used to transform the image file for consumption by the destination device. The device model profiles and gamut map model profiles may be extended using XML plug-ins, and the device models and gamut map models may be extended using DLL plug-ins.

Abstract: An endoscopic gastric reduction apparatus adapted for applying a series of pledgets to anterior and posterior gastric walls for the creation of a mattress stitch suture within the stomach includes an applier having a distal end and a proximal end. The applier is secured at a distal end of a support shaft shaped and dimensioned for passage down the esophagus and into the stomach. The applier includes an applier body having a suction slot shaped and dimensioned for receiving tissue therein for the application of at least one pledget housed within the suction slot for selective coupling with tissue suctioned within the suction slot.

Abstract: A color management system is described herein. Various embodiments of a method described herein can include receiving source color content that is associated with a source device, and transforming the source color content into destination color content for rendering on one or more destination devices. Various embodiments of an apparatus described herein can include a color infrastructure transformation engine that further includes a sequential transform component, which is adapted to receive source color content and to create a transform to facilitate mapping the source color content to destination color content. The color infrastructure transformation engine can also include a transform optimization component that is adapted to receive the transform and to create an optimized transform table based on the transform, and a transform execution component that is adapted to receive the optimized transform table and to generate the destination color content based thereon.
