  • Patent number: 6215487
Abstract: A method for altering attribute values in a printing system with a user interface having a display screen is provided. A first user dialog having a first set of attribute values and a second user dialog having a second set of attribute values are selectively displayable on the display screen; while the first set of attribute values is alterable from a first user settable configuration to a first default configuration and the second set of attribute values is alterable from a second user settable configuration to a second default configuration.

  • Patent number: 6112039
Abstract: In a multifunction digital printing apparatus, such as a copier-printer, image data from print jobs are intermingled with image data from copy jobs, such as originating from a digital scanner. Further, scanner-only functions such as electronic filing and sending facsimiles can be performed without need for printing hardware. An auditing device can decrement a user's account on a per-sheet basis regardless of whether a requested job requires the use of the scanner or printing hardware or both.

  • Patent number: 5987535
Abstract: A method of providing immediate status and capability indicators of an imaging device to an operator by displaying at the user interface display screen an indicator of imaging device features available for operation and a display of imaging device features not available for operation. There is also provided a display of imaging device features in use by animating the display screen and there are displayed connecting channels indicating connection of the imaging device to other devices on the network. Finally, there is presented to the operator a manifestation of the capability of concurrent feature operation of the imaging device.

  • Patent number: 5880727
Abstract: A method and system enables an assignment of a feature value from a set of preset feature values for a copy operation to be performed on a reprographic system The system displays a first screen on a user interface associated with the reprographic system, the first screen displaying a plurality of activatable areas corresponding to a subset of the set of preset feature values and an activatable area corresponding to a second screen associated with the set of preset reduction enlargement values. The system further determines if the activatable area corresponding to the second screen is engaged and displays the second screen on the user interface associated with the reprographic system the activatable area corresponding to the second screen is engaged, the second screen displaying a plurality of activatable areas such that each preset feature value within the set of preset feature values has an activatable area associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 5521710
Abstract: There is provided a method of labeling a job in a printing system. The method includes the steps of storing, in memory, a list of electronic labels and displaying, on a display screen, both the list of electronic labels and a print outline with a selected identifiable area. The selected identifiable area is positionable on the print outline for representing a relative size, location and orientation of an area on a print upon which a selected one of the electronic labels is to be printed, and the displaying step includes applying a grid to the list so that a series of cells is superposed relative to the the electronic labels. In operation, a first location at which a copy of the selected electronic label is to be printed on a selected one of a plurality of prints is indicated and a plurality of prints, with the selected electronic label printed on the selected print at the first location, is produced when all of the selected electronic label is disposed in a selected one of the series of cells.

  • Patent number: 5301036
Abstract: An electronic printing system having an image input for receiving digitally represented images from a source of input information such as an image input scanner; a controller having the capability of rotating an image in at least 90.degree. increments and which can provide such rotation in accordance with a pre-programmed set of commands; a user interface, connected to the controller, and for directing information about the orientation of the input image, and information about output orientation and placement in accordance with one of a plurality of selectable output orientation; and an output, such as a binary printer, to which the controller may direct reoriented image data.

  • Patent number: 5260805
Abstract: An electronic printing system with a touchscreen for programming print jobs using job tickets displayed on the screen, the job tickets having various job programming choices together with scaled representations of the print image superimposed on the print media selected, and a control for comparing the size of the print image as originally oriented with the maximum image size and displaying a fault message on the screen in the event that the print image size exceeds the system maximum image size even though the print image as displayed fits into the print media.

  • Patent number: 5065405
Abstract: An improved sealed-off RF-excited gas laser and method for its manufacture. The resonator section of the laser consists of four optically reflecting longitudinal walls which define the laser bore and plasma section. A concave mirror is mounted on one end of the resonator and a flat or concave output coupler is mounted at the other end. The laser resonator operates in a non-waveguide non-free space mode utilizing wall reflections. Artifacts are introduced at the optically reflecting walls to define a stable oscillatory axis and mode structure by favoring the establishment of stable reflection points along the length of the walls. These artifacts are created by carefully defined bends and tapers in some of the walls to create high mode purity, stability and relatively uncritical optical alignments.
