  • Patent number: 8654995
Abstract: An audio control system may receive a plurality of audio input signals. A switch or multiplexer may switch one of the plurality of audio input signals from respective audio sources to a power amplifier. A controller in communication with the multiplexer may control switching of the multiplexer. A display may provide the user with information regarding the switching of the audio signal inputs. A user interface may permit the user to manually switch the audio source. A signal detector in communication with an audio input signal may detect a signal from a priority source. When the signal from the priority source is detected, the controller may direct the multiplexer to route the signal from the priority source to the power amplifier.

  • Patent number: 8577052
Abstract: A headphone accessory for use with a portable audio device and headphones. The headphone accessory includes an audio source input for receiving audio signals from an audio device. An audio sound transducer receives external sounds and converts the external sound to external sound signals. A signal mixer for continuously varies the balance of a source audio volume to an external sound volume. The signal mixer mixes the volume-adjusted source audio signals with volume-adjusted external sound signals. An audio output outputs the mixed source audio and external sound signals.

  • Publication number: 20110103606
Abstract: A modular headphone system includes an ear-mountable speaker, an audio signal-carrying line coupled to the ear-mountable speaker, and an electrical connector coupled to the audio signal-carrying line. The electrical connector is configured for electrically coupling to a plurality of different types of audio signal-carrying devices. The electrical connector may include a quick disconnect feature configured for securing the electrical connector to the audio signal-carrying device. A modular audio system includes a headphone system and an audio signal-carrying device coupled to the headphone system. The audio signal-carrying device may be disconnected from the headphone system, and another audio signal-carrying device of a different type may be coupled to the headphone system.

  • Patent number: 5859917
Abstract: A flush-mount swivel tweeter system for vehicular audio utilizes a tweeter unit enclosed in hemispherical shell housing, which fits in a swivel manner into a mating cavity in a mounting bushing configured externally with a threaded sleeve having a thin peripheral decorative front flange. The resulting swivel tweeter assembly can be flush-mounted through a round opening provided in the host panel. The flange is secured against the panel by a large mounting nut threaded onto the mounting bushing from the rear. A circular aiming range is available by a combination of swivelling the tweeter unit off-axis and rotating the entire assembly in the panel opening. Once aimed, the swivel tweeter is clamped in place by a nut and washer at the rear, and the mounting bushing is secured in place by tightening the large mounting nut against the rear of the panel.
