  • Patent number: 5365897
Abstract: The novel mechanical valve tappet of the invention arranged in a guide bore of a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine is comprised of a cup-shaped housing with a hollow cylindrical wall (1) closed at one end by a bottom (2) which is contacted exteriorly by a control cam while a first flat end face of an adjusting element (7) bears against an inner surface of the bottom (2), a second flat end face of the adjusting element (7) which is parallel to the said first flat end face is in contact with an end of a valve stem of an engine valve, and the adjusting element (7) has a cylindrical peripheral surface and is retained by force engagement in a bore (6) of a hub (3) fixed to the said inner surface of the bottom (2), characterized in that an element (9, 11, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 26) which is resiliently biased with respect to the adjusting element (7) and the hub (3) is arranged between the hub (3) and the adjusting element (7).

  • Patent number: 5267538
Abstract: A mechanical valve tappet arranged in a guide bore of a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, which valve tappet comprises a cup-shaped housing with a hollow cylindrical wall (1) closed at one end by a bottom (2) against which a control cam runs from the outside while an adjusting element (5) bears against the inner surface of the bottom by a first flat end face and is in contact with the end of a valve stem of a two-way gas valve by a second end face which is parallel to said first end face, characterized in that the adjusting element (5) is a solid component with a cylindrical outer peripheral surface and parallel end faces, projections being provided on the cup-shaped housing to cooperate with the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the adjusting element so that the adjusting element (5) is retained by interlocking or by force engagement on the cup-shaped housing.

  • Patent number: 5137256
Abstract: A control device for a fuel injection nozzle of an internal combustion engine, particularly a diesel engine, provided with a movably guided valve body which forms a valve seat and is controlled by a driving unit and provided with an inner space and with a pressure chamber between an inlet and the valve seat whereby an injection pressure for the injection nozzle is built up in the pressure chamber when the valve seat is closed and pressure compensation is effected between the pressure chamber and an outlet when the valve seat is open characterized in that the valve seat is formed by the end of the valve body lying near the inlet, the pressure chamber communicates with the inner space of the valve body through the valve seat when this is open and the inner space communicates with the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4856468
Abstract: A ball-and-socket joint interposed between a rocker arm and a valve shaft of an internal combustion engine including a journal cooperating with the rocker arm and having a crowned end face which cooperates with a spherical cavity of a joint socket provided at its side opposing the spherical cavity with a plane surface by which it bears against the valve shaft wherein a restraining element is linked to the journal or to a structural element connected to the journal for grasping from behind the circumferential surface of the joint socket thereby securely holding the latter at the journal, characterized in that the restraining element is a spring element (10,19) which bears by elastic prestress against the joint socket (7) thereby holding the crowned end face (5) of the journal (4) in play free contact with the spherical cavity (6).

  • Patent number: 4840160
Abstract: A control device for a valve arranged in a fuel injection line of an internal combustion engine and closable to build up of injection pressure at an injection nozzle wherein a play adjusting element is arranged between a valve body of the valve and a drive element, characterized in that the adjusting element (14) is provided with two pistons (15, 22) guided in a housing (13), the first pistion (15) is acted upon by the drive element and the second pistion(22) acts upon the valve body, and the housing (13) accommodates between the pistons (15, 22) an oil-containing pressure chamber (23) which is sealed against the valve (1, 2) and accommodates a pressure spring (24) acting upon the pistions (15, 22).
