Abstract: A cleaning unit (2, 102) for cleaning a tyre (4) on a vehicle, preferably a wheelchair, including at least one brush (6, 106), where the cleaning unit (2) is movably connected to the chassis (10) of the vehicle via at least one connecting member (8), so that the cleaning unit (2, 102) may be brought into an active position for establishing physical contact between the brush (6, 106) and the tyre (6, 106) as well as into a passive position where there is no physical contact between the brush (6, 106) and the tyre (4), where the cleaning unit (2, 102) is brought from the passive to the active position by means of an actuator, where the cleaning unit (2, 102) includes a motor (12) which is mechanically connected to the brush so that the rotation of the brush (6, 106) is substantially independent of the rotation of the tyre (4).
