  • Patent number: 6459169
Abstract: A vehicular input device is disclosed whose mounting posture can be adjusted freely in conformity with the physical constitution and form of an operator and which is superior in both versatility and operability. A transfer plate is connected to a ball screw through a nut so as to be moved forward and backward by a first motor. A rotary shaft, which is rotated by a second motor, is mounted on the transfer plate, and a housing of the vehicular input device is fixed to end portions of the rotary shaft. The first motor is rotated forward or reverse by operating a manual operating unit provided in the vehicular input device, thereby causing the housing to move forward or backward respect to a dash board. Likewise, the second motor is rotated forward or reverse by operating the manual operating unit, thereby causing a front end portion of the housing to turn upward or downward with respect to the dash board.

  • Patent number: 6349616
Abstract: A steering system mounted wherein a plurality of switch knobs are vertically movably inserted in a housing provided within a steering wheel, and a self-function detecting switch actuated by the pushing operation of each of the switch knobs is mounted on a printed circuit board located on the underside of said housing. The self-function detecting switch is comprised of four push switches having one driving pin. A driving portion is formed on the underside of each of the switch knobs to simultaneously press one or a plurality of driving pins. The shape of the driving portion varies with the switch knob to be used. The switch knob is restricted, by the holding cover openably provided on the steering wheel, so as not to fall out of the housing. When the operator presses any arbitrary switch knob projecting out of the holding cover, a specific identifying signal is outputted from the self-function detecting switch in accordance with the shape of the projection of the driving portion provided on the switch knob.

  • Publication number: 20010026229
Abstract: A vehicle-mounted input device for controlling by a single manual control section the function of air conditioner, radio, television, CD player, car navigation system, etc. mounted on a motor vehicle. The manual control section has finger detecting means, for example a photo interrupter, and alerting mean, for example vibrating means, which vibrates in a mode corresponding to the control position of the manual control section. When the manual control section is held by hand, the finger detecting means detects the driver's finger, and the alerting means vibrates in a mode corresponding to a selected control position of the manual control section, thereby enabling the driver to see the control position of the manual control section before and after a changeover by a blind touch, that is, without observing a display device. Thus it helps facilitate driving the motor vehicle and changing the function of the vehicle-mounted electronic apparatus.
