Publication number: 20240085102Abstract: A system and method for recovering high-quality biomethane (RNG) from biogas sources is provided. The gas stream is compressed and liquids are separated from the gas stream at elevated pressure and reduced temperature. The compressing is performed using a plurality of compressors operating in parallel with common control set points. The system and method improve upon conventional practices and yield a biomethane product which meets strict gas pipeline quality specifications. Additionally, the system and method are an improvement to the overall methane recovery efficiency for biogas processing facilities.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: WM INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY HOLDINGS, L.L.C.Inventors: DEREK CHRISTENSEN, JON DENAULT, GREG MILES, KEITH OTT, Douglas LEE PALMER, JR.

Patent number: 10054046Abstract: A method of power production using a high pressure/low pressure ratio Brayton Power cycle with predominantly N2 mixed with CO2 and H2O combustion products as the working fluid is provided. The high pressure can be in the range 80 bar to 500 bar. The pressure ratio can be in the range 1.5 to 10. The natural gas fuel can be burned in a first high pressure combustor with a near stoichiometric quantity of pressurized preheated air and the net combustion gas can be mixed with a heated high pressure recycle N2+CO2+H2O stream which moderates the mixed gas temperature to the value required for the maximum inlet temperature to a first power turbine producing shaft power.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2017Date of Patent: August 21, 2018Assignee: 8 Rivers Capital, LLCInventors: Miles Palmer, Rodney John Allam, Jeremy Eron Fetvedt

Patent number: 8869889Abstract: The present invention relates to systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing a reliable, high purity source of CO2 that is used in the recovery of formation deposits, such as fossil fuels. At least a portion of the fossil fuels recovered may be directly combusted or extracted using the same process used to provide the pure source of CO2 without the need to first remove CO2, sulfur, other fossil fuels, or other impurities.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2011Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignees: Palmer Labs, LLC, 8 Rivers Capital, LLCInventors: Miles Palmer, Rodney John Allam, Jeremy Eron Fetvedt, David Arthur Freed, Glenn William Brown, Jr.

Patent number: 8633011Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for the production of macroalgae in a manner to provide a sustained, economical source of biomass that may be used in various end-use processes, including energy production. The invention provides specific combinations of macroalgae types, saltwater growth medium compositions, and open pond water containers that results in biomass production beyond what may occur naturally without the required manipulation. Specifically, macroalgae that produce an exoskeleton in the presence of brackish water (e.g., stoneworts) have been found to provide excellent biomass production under the conditions of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2010Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Palmer Labs, LLCInventors: Miles Palmer, Bart R. Patent number: 8596075Abstract: The present invention provides methods and system for power generation using a high efficiency combustor in combination with a CO2 circulating fluid. The methods and systems advantageously can make use of a low pressure ratio power turbine and an economizer heat exchanger in specific embodiments. Additional low grade heat from an external source can be used to provide part of an amount of heat needed for heating the recycle CO2 circulating fluid. Fuel derived CO2 can be captured and delivered at pipeline pressure. Other impurities can be captured.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2010Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignees: Palmer Labs, LLC, 8 Rivers Capital, LLCInventors: Rodney John Allam, Miles Palmer, Glenn William Brown, Jr.

Publication number: 20120067054Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods, assemblies, and systems for power production that can allow for increased efficiency and lower cost components arising from the control, reduction, or elimination of turbine blade mechanical erosion by particulates or chemical erosion by gases in a combustion product flow. The methods, assemblies, and systems can include the use of turbine blades that operate with a blade velocity that is significantly reduced in relation to conventional turbines used in typical power production systems. The methods and systems also can make use of a recycled circulating fluid for transpiration protection of the turbine and/or other components. Further, recycled circulating fluid may be employed to provide cleaning materials to the turbine.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Inventors: Miles Palmer, Rodney John Allam, Jeremy Eron Fetvedt

Patent number: 5944859Abstract: A filter element for separating fine dirty particles from a hot gas. The filter element comprises a first porous wall and a second porous wall. Each porous wall has an outer surface and an inner surface. The first and second porous walls being coupled together thereby forming a substantially closed figure and open at one end. The open end is formed to be coupled to a hot gas clean up system support structure. The first and second porous walls define a channel beginning at the open end and terminate at the closed end through which a filtered clean gas can flow through and out into the clean gas side of a hot gas clean up system.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1996Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: Siemens Westinghouse Power CorporationInventors: Thomas Edwin Lippert, Kathryn Miles Palmer, Gerald Joseph Bruck, Mary Anne Alvin, Eugene E.
