  • Patent number: 8916031
Abstract: Described is a process to obtain tetracosanol from a complex mixture derived from tall oil pitch that comprises terpenoids, rosin alcohols, rosin aldehydes, aliphatic alcohols, hydrocarbons and stilbene derivatives. The process comprises a mixture crystallization step from hexane and a fractional distillation of the crystallized solids, which yields tetracosanol with more than 90% purity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 10, 2010
Date of Patent: December 23, 2014
Assignees: Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Harting S.A.

  • Patent number: 8791281
Abstract: The invention is related to a process for production of lignoceric acid from mixtures of long-chain aliphatic alcohols that contain lignoceric alcohol, wherein the process consists in oxidizing the mixture in a biphasic catalytic system using quaternary ammonium peroxotungstophosphate as a catalyst and hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant, followed by several physical or chemical unitary steps to separate and purify the lignoceric acid.
