    Abstract: A strut-type suspension apparatus for a vehicle has a lower arm composed of a lateral arm (31) and a compression arm (60). One end of the lateral arm is swingably connected to a hub carrier that supports the wheel (1), and the other end thereof is swingably connected to a vehicle body (2). One end of the compression arm is swingably connected to the lateral arm at a first junction (50, 54) at the hub-carrier-side end portion of the lateral arm, and the other end thereof is swingably connected to the vehicle body at a second junction (70) separated from the other end of the lateral arm in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. When an external force acts on the wheel, the other end of the compression arm is displaced along a straight line connecting the first and second junctions. The suspension apparatus is compact and highly durable.

Operating sections adjust the camber and the like by means of a driver circuit which responds to the processor outputs. Thus, a fine adjustment for alignment is made, and wheel alignment adaptable to the vehicle drive modes and the like is established.

    Abstract: In a control system for a power steering apparatus, in which a steering assist amount in a steering mechanism of a vehicle is controlled to a target assist amount, a vehicle speed sensor 41 for detecting a running speed V of the vehicle and a steering angle sensor 52 for detecting a steering angle ha of the vehicle are provided. A lateral acceleration calculation unit calculates a lateral acceleration GY from the vehicle speed V and the steering angle ha and further determines the product V.GY of the vehicle speed V and the lateral acceleration GY. A fuzzy logic calculation unit then sets the target assist amount in accordance with a fuzzy logic rule using the vehicle speed V and the product V.GY as input conditions (membership functions). This thereby provides a control system and control method for controlling a power steering apparatus which presents an optimum steering characteristic in response to the running condition of the vehicle.

    Abstract: If a deceleration exeeds first set value G1 within set time T1 after the brake is depressed, a set amount of fluid is supplied to the fluid spring chamber of each front-wheel suspension unit. If a deceleration exceeds the second set value G2 when set time T1 or more has elapsed upon this operation, a set amount of fluid is exhausted from the fluid spring chamber of each rearwheel suspension unit. With this operation, since braking action for gradually increasing a deceleration is controlled by two stages, uncomfortableness which passangers feel in anti-nose-dive control can be greatly reduced. In addition, control is not performed only by depressing the brake pedal if an acutal deceleration is smaller than first set value G1.
