  • Patent number: 7055499
Abstract: An internal combustion engine intake module, members thereof and electronically controlled throttle apparatus for a car and related products characterized by great strength, and light weight and compact configuration wherein the weight of the electronically controlled throttle apparatus and motor to be connected is reduced. The internal combustion engine intake module of the present invention comprises a collector, an electronically controlled throttle body connected to the collector, and a plurality of intake manifolds connected in parallel integrally with the collector. It is characterized in that the collector is bent upward on the side of the electronically controlled throttle body, and a motor for driving the electronically controlled throttle is provided on the body integrally with the inner side of the bent side. It is further characterized in that the intake manifolds are made of synthetic resin containing a fiber or aluminum group alloy casting.

  • Patent number: 6684840
Abstract: An intake manifold and a collector made of synthetic resin are molded integrally to constitute a body of an intake module. A synthetic resin holder for holding at least one of a harness and a piping member (a pipe for hot water, and a canister purge pipe) is mounted at the upper part of the intake module body to incorporate the harness and/or piping member as an intake module element. Further, an engine control unit, an injector, a throttle body and so on are also incorporated into the module body to progress formation of an intake system of the internal combustion engine into module, and module elements are increased more than that presented previously to further enhance simplicity of vehicle assembling work, convenience of transportation, and mounting density, and to realize smaller and lighter weight, housing properties, and lower resistance of harness.

  • Publication number: 20030106516
Abstract: An intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, being variable in an intake length, comprising: a first volume chamber disposed in a downstream side of a throttle valve for controlling an intake air passing through an air-cleaner; first independent intake passages being divided from said first volume chamber for guiding the air within said first volume chamber into each of cylinders; second independent intake passages joining and conducting to each of said first independent intake passages, each of which is provided for said each of cylinders respectively; a second volume chamber conducting to all of said second independent intake passages; and valves being provided in said independent intake passages for conducting/shutting off between said second volume chambers and said first independent intake passage, wherein said first independent intake passage and said first volume chamber are built up with a plural number of synthetic resin molded members, and said second independent intake passage surrounding

  • Patent number: 6186115
Abstract: A throttle valve is rotatably mounted to a throttle body through a throttle shaft. An internal bore shape of the throttle body is of a straight bore type having a shape in which the center of rotation of the throttle valve is placed on the central line of the throttle body. Spherically-shaped internal profile portions are provided in an idle control region lying in the neighborhood of a fully-closed angle of the throttle valve. Further, spherically-shaped internal profile portions are provided as regions following the spherically-shaped internal profile portions referred to above. Moreover, regions each formed by a spherical shape and a composite surface profile of a cylindrical surface substantially parallel to the flow of intake air or regions each formed by a conical surface profile are provided as regions following the spherically-shaped profiles. Incidentally, the center of each spherical profile is offset on the central line of the bore in upward and downward directions.

  • Patent number: 5722366
Abstract: Disclosed is a throttle valve control device for internal combustion engines which has good measuring accuracy and improved controllability of an air flow rate. A throttle valve is rotatably attached to a throttle body through a throttle shaft. The throttle body has an inner surface of straight bore type that the center of rotation of the throttle valve is positioned on a line connecting the centers of an upstream opening and a downstream opening of the throttle body. The throttle body has a spherical inner surface X2 in an idle speed control area .theta.2 near the fully closed angle of the throttle valve. The throttle body also has, in an area .theta. subsequent to the spherical inner surface X2, an inner surface X3 having a composite form made up of a spherical surface and a cylindrical surface substantially parallel to a flow of intake air.
