  • Patent number: 10479741
Abstract: Processes and apparatus for isomerizing hydrocarbons are provided. The process comprises isomerizing at least a portion of the hydrocarbon feed stream comprising at least one of C4 to C7 hydrocarbons in the presence of an isomerization catalyst and hydrogen under isomerization conditions to produce a isomerized stream. The isomerized stream is stabilized in a stabilizer to provide a stabilizer off-gas stream comprising chlorides and a liquid isomerate stream. At least a portion of the stabilizer off-gas stream is contacted with an exchange stream to provide an absorber overhead stream and absorber bottoms stream comprising chlorides. The absorber bottoms stream is passed to the isomerization reactor. The liquid isomerate stream is passed to a deisohexanizer column to provide an isomerate product and deisohexanizer side stream.

  • Patent number: 10351788
Abstract: Processes and apparatus for isomerizing hydrocarbons are provided. The process comprises providing a feed stream comprising C5, C6 and C7+ hydrocarbons. The feed stream is separated to produce a first stream rich in C5 and C6 hydrocarbons and a second stream rich in benzene and C7+ hydrocarbons. The first stream is isomerized in the presence of isomerization catalyst and hydrogen in an isomerization zone under isomerization conditions to produce an isomerized stream. The second stream is contacted with a benzene saturation catalyst at benzene saturation conditions to produce a saturation effluent stream comprising cyclohexane.

  • Patent number: 10144885
Abstract: This present disclosure relates to processes and apparatuses for transforming feedstock with high levels of benzene into a low-benzene content product that is suitable for gasoline blending. The benzene rich reformate stream is split in a reformate splitter and the benzene in the benzene rich reformate is saturated in a benzene saturation unit and the gases like hydrogen and LPG are recovered.

  • Patent number: 10118878
Abstract: Apparatuses and processes are provided for regulating C7 and C8 feed to an aromatics complex to increase the ratio of a selected xylene isomer to benzene ratio. Reformate may be split into three cuts in a splitter column. A side cut stream comprises predominantly C7 hydrocarbons and a bottoms steam from the splitter column comprises predominantly C8+ hydrocarbons. The relative proportion of the C7 and C8+ hydrocarbon streams sent to the aromatics complex are metered to determine the resulting ratio of a selected xylene isomer to benzene produced by the aromatics complex.

  • Patent number: 6783120
Abstract: The performance of multiple downcomer fractional distillation trays is improved by intercepting the liquid egressing from the bottom of the downcomers in a manner which directs a portion of the liquid along the major axis of decking of the next lower tray. This is accomplished by the use of improved antipenetration pans suspended below the downcomers of the upper tray. The antipenetration pans have extensions running parallel to the decking areas of the next lower tray. A portion of the liquid falling from the upper downcomer flows to the end of the extensions, where it falls onto the lower decking at more distant points than with prior art antipenetration pans.
