The method may further include generating a Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) virtual network in the first power substation network in response to determining that a PRP-based IED is being added to the first power substation network. The method may further include establishing, over the PRP virtual network, a second communication path and a third communication path between the control server and the PRP-based IED. The method may further include transmitting first control data to the first IED over the first communication path and second control data to the PRP-based IED over the second communication path.
