    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide using pilot sequences that are better suited to hardware capabilities of a receiver, in particular the capabilities of an analog to digital converter (ADC). When the pilot sequence changes, in amplitude or phase, the received pilot symbols may be quantized to different quantization regions. By utilizing a particular pilot sequence, it may be possible to extract additional information from the pilot sequence being quantized over multiple quantization regions instead of only a single quantization region. Therefore, by careful selection of the pilot sequence taking into consideration capabilities of the receiver, it may be possible to obtain more accurate channel estimations.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and devices that facilitate two-way redirection via a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) when beam correspondence does not hold. A first embodiment includes using a wide-beam redirection via RIS in which the RIS is configured to redirect the beam incident on the RIS in either direction such that the redirected beam can encompass the deviation of the redirected direction and still reach the destination. A second embodiment includes partitioning the RIS, or using multiple different RISs, where each part, or different RIS, is configured for each direction of communication. A third embodiment includes using time division-duplexing (TDD) such that the RIS is configured to transmit in one direction at a time.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to integration of sensing and wireless communications. Wireless communication networks can configure and implement both sensing signals and communication signals. Sensing signals, or sensing reference signals, can be used to determine properties of the environment, and do not carry any information or data for the purpose of communications. Communication signals, on the other hand, are signals that carry information or data between network entities. Sensing agents can be used for both passive and active sensing. Sensing agents may be dedicated devices capable of performing passive sensing, active sensing, or both. Sensing agents can also be existing networks device such as user equipment or transmit receive points. Methodologies described here may be particularly beneficial for half-duplex systems, but could also be implemented in full duplex systems.

The RF pulse signal is defined by a waveform for carrying communication data between electronic devices. The sensed RF pulse signal is at least a portion of the transmitted or reflected RF pulse signal, wherein the portion is equal to or greater than a threshold value for the object being within a sensing range of the first electronic device. The electronic device may also receive a communication signal from another electronic device during the passive phase.

These manipulations can help enhance the communication and provide the ability to overlay information.
