  • Patent number: 11867394
Abstract: A hydrocarbon management system comprises a flare boom configured to connect to a drilling or production rig. The flare boom is configured to combust at least a portion of hydrocarbon fluids flowed from the rig to the flare boom. A catcher is configured to be spatially positioned relative to the end of the flare boom. The catcher comprises a diverter positioned to divert a flow of uncombusted hydrocarbon liquids from the flare boom, and a container configured to receive the uncombusted hydrocarbon liquids diverted by the diverter.

  • Publication number: 20230344852
Abstract: An automated method for centralized management of an enterprise-level cybersecurity maturity assessment includes (1) building a cybersecurity maturity assessment plan, (2) sending assessment questionnaires to subject matter experts (SMEs), (3) receiving completed questionnaires from the SMEs along with corresponding evidence artifacts relevant to the questionnaires; (4) sending the received questionnaires and corresponding artifacts to a cybersecurity maturity core team; (5) receiving verified and unverified questionnaires and corresponding artifacts sent to and analyzed by the core team; (6) repeating (2) through (5) for the unverified questionnaires and corresponding artifacts until the received questionnaires and corresponding artifacts are all verified; and (7) sending the verified questionnaires and corresponding artifacts to external assessors.

  • Publication number: 20230160270
Abstract: A system for well control during tripping phases in drilling operations in a wellbore, the system comprising: a drill string extending from an entry of the wellbore to a drill bit at a distal end of the drill string within the wellbore; a near bit sub mounted along the drill string adjacent to the drill bit; a first smart multi-directional two-way check valve mounted along the drill string adjacent to the near bit sub; and a controller configured to operate the valve. The controller controls the valve to apply suction or discharge flow to the near bit sub to counter inertial effects of drilling mud viscosity within the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20230121791
Abstract: Methods of preventing stuck pipe include drilling a wellbore with a pipe comprising a multidirectional jarring apparatus. The multidirectional jarring apparatus comprises an internal helical groove that at least partially translates substantially vertical motion to rotational motion. The methods further include measuring a wellbore proximity of the multidirectional jarring apparatus to a sidewall of the wellbore, measuring drilling speed variability, analyzing the wellbore proximity of the multidirectional jarring apparatus to the sidewall of the wellbore and the drilling speed variability, and determining a torque value less than a required operating torque. The methods further include applying a load to the multidirectional jarring apparatus, thereby oscillating the multidirectional jarring apparatus along the internal helical groove to pre-emptively prevent stuck pipe.

  • Patent number: 11434760
Abstract: A system for detection of real time gas expansion within a wellbore using an oil based mud. The system includes one or more ball valve cartridges located in a drill string, where the one or more ball valves are arranged serially along a length in the drill string. Each of the one or more ball valve cartridges include a corresponding gas detection electrode. The system also includes a control system for receiving an output signal from the gas detection electrode. Each of the one or more ball valve cartridges is configured to have a higher pressure rating than a preceding ball valve cartridge, and the gas detection electrode is configured to react with a dissolved gas in the oil based mud, causing an oxidation reaction, and thereby generating the output signal.

  • Patent number: 11421510
Abstract: A downhole tool assembly coupled to a drill string includes a drill string motor that rotates the drill string, the downhole tool assembly including a tool body defining a perimeter, one or more cutting elements positioned on the perimeter of the tool body, where the one or more cutting elements are positionable between an extended position, in which the one or more cutting elements extend outwardly from the perimeter of the tool body, and a retracted position, where the one or more cutting elements are positioned further outward from the perimeter of the tool body in the extended position than the retracted position, and a tool motor coupled to the tool body, where the tool motor is structurally configured to rotate the tool body as fluid passes through the tool motor.
