Abstract: Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface on a second screen. More particularly, the method includes a change in the display mode of a multiple screen device from a first screen to a second screen while the device is closed. The change in the display mode may be made in response to a request from an application. The application may be executed and have the user interface window associated with the application moved to a second screen. The change to the second screen can be requested based on input into the application or automatically generated based on the type of application. In response to the request from the application, the device can render the user interface in the second screen.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to digital television processes and systems. In one embodiment, a method for control of a digital television includes detecting a first command for presentation of a control interface for the digital television, and presenting the control interface, wherein the control interface is presented to include an expanded tab element configured to provide a plurality of selectable elements associated with a category of the expanded tab element, and a plurality of tab elements configured in a horizontal bar configuration on a display of the digital television, the expanded tab element presented within the horizontal bar. The method also includes detecting a command for the control interface to select one of the plurality of tab elements, and updating presentation of the control interface in response to the second command, wherein the digital television presents a selected tab element with expanded configuration and provides a plurality of graphical elements.

Abstract: An Intelligent TV can receive a selection associated with an item of content or the content source associated with a television display. Based on the selection, the Intelligent TV can associate a badge with the item of content or the content source. The badge is a user interface device having visual indicia that indicates the item of content or the content source includes a feature, a state, or a designation. The badge can indicate that the program or the content source is a favorite, is new, or has been previously viewed. Further, the Intelligent TV can receive a second selection for a user interface containing information about the item of content or the content source. Based on the second selection, the Intelligent TV can present both the information about and the badge associated with the item of content or the content source.

In one embodiment, a method includes transmitting a discover message by a discovery engine of an application executed by the device, receiving a response message from a second device, transmitting a request to the second device for a profile and receiving an acknowledgement of the request for profile for the second device. The method can also include transmitting a request for capabilities associated with the second device, receiving acknowledgement of the request for capabilities, and transmitting a control command to the second device formatted by the application based on the acknowledgement of the request for profile. Other embodiments are directed to receiving discover messages, requests for profile information and capabilities and establishing a communication channel between devices.

Abstract: A multi-display device can interface with two or more different types of docking stations. The device can determine the type of dock and change the pin outs for a connector to interface with that dock. Once docked, the device can determine a charge status for the device and the dock to present the status to the user. Further, the dock can enter one of several modes, including a call receipt mode and an entertainment mode. The modes allow for expanded functionality for the device while docked. Two particular docks, the laptop dock and the smart dock, provide special functionality with the device.
