Determining the core description of the core sample is based on a comparison between the plurality of values associated with the core sample and sets of plurality of values associated with the set of training core samples.     Abstract: Continuous capillary pressure (Pc) curves of subsurface rock formations adjacent wells are determined based on translation relaxation time (T2) data from nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and from wireline well logs, such as resistivity logs, to obtain water saturation (Sw) of the rock in the formations. The T2 data and the hydrocarbon density, water density, free water level, and paleo-water level of the formation are processed to obtain parameters of Thomeer hyperbolas that closely conform to water saturation values obtained from the other well logs. The Thomeer hyperbolas so determined are converted to capillary pressure curves.

    Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer program stored therein are provided to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of modeling a core sample from two-dimensional images of the core sample. Embodiments of the invention include, for example, image registering a plurality of images of transverse sections of a core sample to produce aligned transverse sections and performing a saw cut correction on the aligned images to adjust the images for a slab cut. Embodiments of the saw cut correction can include, for example, identifying the saw cut line, approximating the slab cut boundary, and moving a portion of the representation of the image to the periphery of the approximated slab cut boundary. Embodiments can further include, generating three-dimensional models of the core sample and the internal composition of a borehole related to the core sample using the adjusted saw cut line images and multipoint statistics calculations.

Well log data is obtained that includes permeability log data, porosity log data, water saturation log data, and oil saturation log data. Thomeer parameters for a multi-pore system of a Thomeer model are determined by evaluating an objective function that measures the mismatch between the well log data and modeled data having the Thomeer parameters as input. The objective function is iteratively evaluated using linear equality constraints, linear inequality constraints, and nonlinear equality constraints until convergence criteria are met.
