  • Publication number: 20080035516
Abstract: An integrated display card and goods holding container is provided. A well for the goods is formed integrally with the card, the integral structure preferably made of plastic but can be made of wood or metal. A cover is provided for closing the well, such as a screw top. The cover and the card can be provided with structures, such as pawls and catches, so that when the cover is fully engaged with the well, the structures provide evidence of tampering if the cover is removed from the card. Alternatively, or in addition, entire card can be shrink-wrapped or a seal, such as a tamper proof seal, can be placed over the cover.

  • Patent number: 6779937
Abstract: A grip accessory, especially for a writing instrucment such as for a convention pencil or pen, a cosmetics pencil or applicator, a medical instrument, or the like. The device has a core with a bore made from a material that slides relatively easily over the instrument, an aperture in the core, and an elastomeric sheath with protrusions that extend through the aperture and into the bore. The protrusions provide resistance to the sliding fo the instrument through the bore when the instrument's outer surface engages the protrusions, thereby keeping the grip accessory in place but allowing the accessory to be place on and removed from the elongate instrument.

  • Patent number: 5909740
Abstract: A protective cap and mirror unit for a cosmetic pencil having a sharpened tip. The unit is molded of plastic to define a small rectangular frame whose rear face is integral with a tubular cap, the entry of which is at the lower end of the frame, a mirror being mounted on the front face of the frame. In the storage mode of the unit, the tip end of the cosmetic pencil is snugly telescoped in the cap. In an active mode, a user holding the pencil in one hand and grasping the unit with the other hand, withdraws the unit from the pencil and then defines with the cosmetic pencil her lips or eyes as she observes at close range her face in the mirror.

  • Patent number: 5845658
Abstract: A cosmetic travel compact in the form of a box-like package having a square base section and a square cover section adapted to supply a user with a facial cosmetic, an applicator therefor and a mirror viewable by the user when applying the cosmetic, all of which are protectively enclosed within the closed compact. The base section is provided with a drawer having a well therein to receive a powder puff and a platform mounted above the drawer on which a cylindrical shell is anchored to accommodate a pressed powder supply. Mounted within the cover section is a ring having a mirror nested therein, the ring screwing onto the shell to seal the powder supply when the cover section is seated on the platform and then turned to align the square of the cover section with that of the base section.

  • Patent number: 5819764
Abstract: A compact adapted to package a cosmetic in paste or cream form that includes volatile agents, the cosmetic package being hermetically sealed to prolong its shelf-life. The compact is provided with a case on whose base is anchored a cylindrical shell for storing the cosmetic. Surrounding the shell is an elastomeric sealing collar having a circular array of elastomeric legs extending from its lower edge and resting on the base of the case. Formed on the inner surface of the lid is a circular pressure ring which when the lid is swung down to close the compact then engages and applies downward pressure to the upper edge of the sealing collar to hermetically seal the cosmetic stored in the shell. This action compresses the legs which then exert an upward pressure on the collar to tighten its engagement with the ring and thereby strengthen the seal.

  • Patent number: 5813420
Abstract: A make-up kit housing an assortment of different cosmetics, each of which is stored in a miniature module. The kit includes a case having a plurality of module sites, each site being defined by a set of guide pins anchored on the base of the case to abut the sides of the module seated at the site. Hinged to the case is a frame plate which swings down to engage the upper edge of the case to lock the modules therein. The plate is provided with a plurality of openings, each framing a respective module seated at a site to expose the cosmetic therein. To replace a module whose cosmetic is exhausted, the frame plate is raised and a fresh module is substituted at the site for the exhausted module.

  • Patent number: 4898195
Abstract: A travel compact constituted by a rectangular case which houses a sliding drawer having a set of cells therein for storing a small supply of compatibly-colored cosmetics. The drawer is replaceable by another when its supply is exhausted or should the user wish to take along a different set of cosmetics. When the drawer is retracted from the case to expose the cells, detents formed on the side walls of the drawer at the rear end thereof engage a pair of catches which flank the open front end of the case to prevent withdrawal of the drawer. The rear section of one of the side walls is detacted from the bottom wall and from the rear wall of the drawer to form a flexible tine on whose free end is supported one of the detents. When the tine is depressed, this action releases the detent thereon from its catch and makes it possible to withdraw the drawer from the case.

  • Patent number: 4621935
Abstract: A method for filling a container for a cosmetic which initially is in a heated liquefied state and which assumes a solid form at ambient temperature. The container includes an open-ended cylindrical case whose bottom end is provided with a lip acting as an end stop with respect to a piston-type actuator slidable therein, the upper portion of this case being threaded to receive a screw-on cap within which is nested a removable filling cup which closes the top end of the case. The actuator is provided with a filling hole making it possible when the actuator occupies its stop position to fill the container from the bottom with the liquefied cosmetic. When the liquefied cosmetic filling the container solidifies, it forms a solid column therein that is seated on the actuator and is raised thereby. The actuator hole is sealed by a plug of a material having a high thermal coefficient of expansion, the plug being deposited in the hole in a cold state in which its diameter is slightly less than that of the hole.

  • Patent number: 4589430
Abstract: A make up kit for storing an assortment of different cosmetics and applicators therefor in a highly compact case having a hinged cover. Nested in the case is a rectangular tray divided by a ridge into a front compartment for accommodating the applicators and a rear compartment for receiving a row of replaceable holders each carrying a supply of a different cosmetic such as pressed powder or mascara. The holders are dimensioned to snap into the rear compartment and to fit snugly between the ridge and the rear wall of the tray. Formed on the rear end of each holder is a tongue which projects from the base and is socketed within a complementary slot in the rear wall of the tray. The top of the holder includes a projecting front ledge which overlies the ridge to define a thumb piece to facilitate removal of the holder from its compartment. Below the ledge on the front end of the holder is a detent which engages the side of the ridge to retain the holder in place.
