  • Patent number: 4909217
Abstract: A novel engine control method is disclosed in which in order to dampen the longitudinal oscillation of a vehicle such as an automobile and to prevent the deterioration of the exhaust gas purification performance thereof, the longitudinal acceleration or the engine speed of the vehicle is detected, and the detected vehicle acceleration or engine speed, as the case may be, is differentiated. A signal with the phase of the differentiated value advanced by a specific value is produced and used to compensate for the fuel injection time or a target value of throttle opening degree.

  • Patent number: 4899280
Abstract: An adaptive control system for categorized engine conditions is disclosed in which the engine conditions to be controlled are discriminated and classified in accordance with the driver's intent and the vehicle operating conditions. It is decided that a given engine control condition is continued or the transition is under way between different control conditions as a history judgement, and a vehicle operation parameter is determined in accordance with the determined history. At the same time, in accordance with the control condition decided and classified, an operating signal is applied to the engine with an operating parameter thus determined and the result of engine control response is observed to update the adaptive parameter.

  • Patent number: 4887216
Abstract: In order to control all revolution numbers of an engine at high precision, combustion of each cylinder is reliably controlled. For the combustion control of each cylinder, there are controlled measurement timings of an air volume as well as a fuel volume contributive to the combustion and exhaust gas being a combustion result, calculation timings of a fuel injection volume and an ignition timing, and output timings of fuel injection and/or ignition. These timings are synchronized by crank angle positions form a reference point such as top dead center. Particularly as to the measurement timing, a delay time of a gas stream between a measurement spot and the cylinder is compensated in terms of a crank angle corresponding thereto, whereby the variables to be measured are synchronized.

  • Patent number: 4697566
Abstract: A method of controlling fuel injection to an internal combustion engine by electronic circuits. A plurality of cylinders installed in the internal combustion engine are divided into two groups and two electronic circuits for controlling the respective two cylinder groups are provided. By comparing between the outputs of the two electronic circuits, whether the operations of the respective electronic circuits are normal or not is judged. The fuel injection controlled by the electronic circuit which has been judged to be abnormal is stopped, while the fuel injection controlled by the electronic circuit which has been judged to be normal is continued. Thus, the internal combustion engine is driven solely by one group of cylinders.
