  • Patent number: 5849840
Abstract: A dispersing stabilizer including (A) a polyvinyl alcohol resin containing oxyalkylene groups and having a surface tension of 35 to 55 dyne/cm at 20.degree. C. as a 1% by weight aqueous solution, or said resin and (B) a water-soluble polymer or a polyvinyl alcohol resin having a low degree of hydrolysis and a low degree of polymerization. When using the dispersing stabilizer of the present invention, both of a porosity and a bulk density of a polyvinyl resin particle can be improved at the same time, and, in addition, a distribution of particle size and a uniformity of porosity can be further improved.

  • Patent number: 5106890
Abstract: A polyvinyl alcohol-starch film which is prepared from a composition comprising a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of hydrolysis of at least 93% by mole and a starch, the film being at least uniaxially stretched. The film of the present invention is excellent in water resistance, and moreover in degradable property.

  • Patent number: 4469839
Abstract: An emulsifier useful for preparing an aqueous emulsion having a high viscosity which comprises a copolymer of (1) at least one monomer selected from a vinyl ester, vinyl alcohol, an alkyl acrylate and an alkyl methacrylate and (2) at least one monomer selected from an acrylic acid derivative of the general formula:CH.sub.2 .dbd.CR.sup.1 --CO--A--R.sup.2 --SO.sub.3 Mand a maleic acid derivative of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl group, R.sup.2 is an alkylene group, R.sup.3 is hydrogen, an alkyl group or an alkali metal, M is hydrogen or an alkali metal, and A is --O-- or --NR-- in which R is hydrogen, an alkyl group or --R.sup.2 SO.sub.3 M. Emulsions prepared by employing the above copolymer as emulsifier have very high viscosities and moreover excellent storage, freeze-thaw and dilution stabilities.

  • Patent number: 4208499
Abstract: A dispersing stabilizer for suspension polymerization of vinyl compounds comprising (A) a water-soluble protective colloid and (B) a carbonyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol having an average degree of hydrolysis of 10 to 90% by mole; the absorbance of a 0.1% by weight aqueous solution of the component (B) being not less than 0.18 at a wavelength of 280 m.mu.. Suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride can be conducted by using the stabilizer without adhesion of scale to a polymerization vessel, and also particles of the obtained vinyl chloride resins have a high porosity and uniform size.

  • Patent number: 4010117
Abstract: A novel electroconductive material comprising a copolymer of (A) 30 to 90 % by mole of styrenesulfonic acid salt and (B) 70 to 10 % by mole of at least one of alkyl acrylates or methacrylates having an alkyl group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile or a copolymer of (A) 40 to 70 % by mole of styrenesulfonic acid salt, (B) 5 to 20 % by mole of at least one of alkyl acrylates or methacrylates having an alkyl group of 4 to 10 carbon atoms and (C) 10 to 55 % by mole of at least one of styrene, acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile and alkyl acrylates having an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms. The electroconductive material has a superior solvent-resistance and antiblocking property as well as electroconductivity and is useful for an electroconductive, photoconductive and other related copying systems.
