  • Patent number: 8285110
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus and a method for generating record data, guaranteeing seamless playback even in a case of occurrence of a jump. In a multilayer disc having a plurality of recording layers, it is configured that an allowable range of an intra-layer jump and an inter-layer jump carried out in a playback processing of an information recording medium is determined and a required time for the intra-layer jump and the inter-layer jump is calculated on the basis of the determined allowable jump range information so as to determine a data configuration requirement such as an allowable minimum consecutive data size of data to be stored in the information recording medium on the basis of the calculated required jump time. With the present structure, seamless playback is made possible even in a case of occurrence of not only an intra-layer jump but also an inter-layer jump.

  • Patent number: 8279939
Abstract: Control data subsequent to an extension start code is stored in an encoding apparatus when transmitted after each header data of a video sequence layer, a GOP layer, a picture layer and a slice layer. And in transmission of the next header data, the content of the control data subsequent to the extension start code in the header data to be transmitted is compared with the content of the preceding header data of the same layer stored in the encoding apparatus. And if the result of such comparison signifies that the compared data are mutually the same, neither the extension start code nor the subsequent control data is transmitted. At the reception of each header data of the video sequence layer, the GOP layer, the picture layer and the slice layer, the control data decoded subsequently to the extension start code is stored in the decoding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8281156
Abstract: A data placement configuration which ensures seamless playback of contents having segment portions including multiple different variations of encrypted data is provided. With regard to contents having segment portions configured of multiple different variations of encrypted data to which individual segment keys have been applied, and non-segment portions serving as encrypted data to which a unit key has been applied, the placement of segment data and non-segment portion configuration data is determined such that the maximum jump distance executed at the time of playback processing is equal to or less than a maximum jump distance set beforehand. Data placement has been determined based on seek time, ECC block processing time, sequence key usage time which is key switchover time, and so forth.

  • Patent number: 8279941
Abstract: A picture decoding method and apparatus for decoding a bit stream, the bit stream being compatible with MPEG 1 moving picture video standard. The method includes receiving, via an input terminal, from the bit stream that includes extension data added in a header of a picture layer of the bit stream when the header includes control data newly added in MPEG 2 standard format, a picture coding type and the extension data of an anterior header of the picture layer. The bit stream in the picture layer is decoded using the picture coding type and the extension data of an anterior header of the picture layer when an extension start code indicating the beginning of the extension data of the current header is not received from the bit stream.

  • Publication number: 20120189275
Abstract: For a content-prerecorded large capacity disc-shaped recording medium, a user interface having high flexibility is accomplished. Button image data, corresponding sound data as an effect sound, and control commands for the sound data and image data are multiplexed with a stream and recorded on the disc. A scenario reproduced from the disc is stored in a buffer. The image data and sound data are stored in a buffer. Image data is read from the buffer in accordance with a scenario and expanded to a graphics plane. In addition, corresponding sound data is read from the buffer and reproduced by a sound player. When a button image is varied in accordance with a state change of the button, an effect sound is reproduced. As a result, a more effective user interface is accomplished.

  • Patent number: 8204357
Abstract: For a BD-ROM, a picture-in-picture function and a wallpaper display function are accomplished. A second video plane 50 for displaying a moving picture is added to planes 10, 11, and 12 for displaying a moving picture, a subtitle, and graphics, respectively. One of the outputs of the second video plane 50 and the video plane 10 is selected by a switch 51 on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Reduced moving picture data are stored on the second video plane 50. The switch 51 is controlled according to a display position of the reduced moving picture data on a pixel-by-pixel basis. As a result, reduced moving picture data of the second video plane 50 are displayed as a sub screen against the moving picture data of the video plane 10. When wallpaper picture data instead of the moving picture data are stored on the video plane 10, a display screen is obtained as if a wallpaper were displayed in the background of the reduced moving picture data.

  • Patent number: 8200066
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method. A code number is inputted. First control information is reproduced in an info file for controlling reproduction of all of a plurality of playlists recorded on a recording medium. Second control information is reproduced in a playlist for controlling reproduction of the playlist. The reproduction of data is permitted, even when the first control information and the second control information are both active, if the inputted code number is consistent with a personal identification number (PIN) which is recorded in the info file, without requiring another input of the code number. Display of information in a playlist is controlled and the display of the information in the playlist is prohibited when the first control information or the second control information is active.

  • Publication number: 20120099837
Abstract: The present invention facilitates reading in advance information on addresses where data of each reproduction path to be reproduced is stored. Clip AV stream 1 to Clip AV stream 3 of angles forming a multiangle are managed by PlayList#1 to PlayList#3 for the different angles. Each of PlayList#1 to PlayList#3 is divided by angle change points. Each of the divided reproducing sections corresponds to a PlayItem. Correspondences between source packet numbers and presentation time stamps of the angle change points are recorded in an EP_map. The present invention is applicable to DVD recording and reproducing apparatus, for example.
