Abstract: A communication system authorizes a User Equipment (UE) for a wireless data service and a media-conferencing service. A network core receives UE authentication data from the UE that is based on a secret key. The network core determines network authentication data for the UE that is also based on the secret key. The network core authorizes the UE for the wireless data service based on the UE authentication data and the network authentication data. The network core transfers the network authentication data for the UE to a media-conferencing server in response to the authorization of the UE for the wireless data service. The media-conferencing server receives other UE authentication data from the UE that is based on the secret key. The media-conferencing server authorizes the UE for the media-conferencing service based on the other UE authentication data from the UE and the network authentication data from the network core.

  • Patent number: 11510277
Abstract: In radio circuitry, transceiver circuitry wirelessly exchanges data signals with wireless User Equipment (UEs). Radio Resource Control (RRC) circuitry receives individual subscriber data for individual ones of the UEs. The RRC circuitry transfers the individual subscriber data to Media Access Control (MAC) circuitry. The MAC circuitry selects individual Discontinuous Reception (DRX) duty cycles for the individual ones of the UEs based their individual subscriber data. The transceiver circuitry wirelessly exchanges subsequent data signals with the UEs using the selected individual DRX duty cycles for the individual ones of the UEs.

  • Patent number: 11483706
Abstract: A wireless network transfers UE information to an authorization server. The authorization server generates an expected result based on a random number and secret key in response to the UE information. The authorization server transfers the expected result and the random number to the wireless network which transfers the random number to the UE. The wireless network receives an authentication result from the UE and authenticates the UE by matching the authentication result to the expected result. In response to network authentication, the wireless network transfers the expected result to a conferencing server. The conferencing server receives the authentication result from the UE and registers the UE by matching the authentication result to the expected result. The conferencing server establishes media conferences for the UE. The wireless network exchanges media for the UE.

  • Patent number: 11363470
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing intra-cell beam sweeping based on a service threshold. The system transmits a plurality of beams including a first beam at a first direction. When it is determined that a first feedback from a user device is below a service threshold, the system will associate the first beam with a second direction. Then, the system will transmit the plurality of beams with the first beam at a second direction.

  • Patent number: 10966207
Abstract: Radio circuitry controls wireless transmit power to User Equipment (UEs). The radio circuitry receives wireless signals generated using different Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) constellation sizes. The circuitry converts the wireless signals into data symbols and converts the data symbols into uplink data. The radio circuitry determines when average symbol error is excessive for a set of QAM constellation sizes. The radio circuitry determines when the UEs are concentrated in an inner coverage range. When both the average symbol error is excessive and the UEs are concentrated in the inner range, the radio circuitry reduces transmit power and transmits wireless signals to the UEs at the reduced transmit power. When the average symbol error is no longer excessive or when the UEs are no longer concentrated in the inner range, the radio circuitry increases transmit power and transmits wireless signals to the UEs at the increased power level.

  • Patent number: 10932122
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for improving user equipment (UE) beam effectiveness for a high mobility user. The system calculates at least one shift value for a UE based on a reference signal transmitted by the UE. When it is determined that the at least one shift value for the UE is greater than a predetermined threshold, the system will analyze at least past shift value. Based on this analysis, the system will predict a future shift value for the first UE beam. Then, instruction are provided for the modification of one or more of a first UE beam or a second UE beam.

  • Patent number: 10798706
Abstract: In a wireless communication system including a group of base stations, the base stations are all configured to operate on a common wideband carrier, and each base station is further configured to operate on a narrowband carrier defined as a guest carrier within the frequency range of the wideband carrier, with each base station's narrowband carrier being non-overlapping in frequency with each other base station's narrowband carrier. Further, each base station could be configured to avoid allocation of air-interface resources on the common wideband carrier that would overlap in frequency with the narrowband carrier on which any other base station of the group is configured to operate within the wideband carrier.

  • Patent number: 10764336
Abstract: In a wireless communication system where a wireless access network includes a base station providing coverage in which to serve devices and where the wireless access network provides connectivity with an Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), a method and system to help manage network resources by dynamically controlling when setup of a dedicated bearer will be invoked for a packet-based call placed by a device served by the base station. If the base station is lightly loaded, then setup of dedicated bearer could be invoked before the called party answers the call. Whereas, if the base station is heavily loaded, then setup of the dedicated bearer could be invoked if and when the called party has answered.

  • Patent number: 10750413
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for configuring service of a user equipment device (UE). When the UE has dual-connectivity service, such as EN-DC service, poor quality on one of the UE's air-interface connections could result in transition of the UE to single-connectivity service. To address technological issues that may arise in this process, one of the UE's serving Node-Bs (NBs) could control teardown of an access bearer homed to the other of the UE's serving NBs. Further or alternatively, a control-plane signaling path that is homed to one of the UE's serving NBs could be replaced with a control-plane signaling path instead homed to the other of the UE's serving NBs. In addition, in appropriate circumstances, when such reconfiguration occurs, service of the UE could be switched from one core network to another.
