Abstract: Described are call handling methods performed by a carrier network or client stations. A method performed by a carrier network includes designating rules for call handling for an account, receiving first and second voice calls for the account, wherein the voice calls may be either an incoming calls or originated calls and handling the first and second voice calls for the account based on the rules. A method performed by a client station includes receiving a first invitation to a first call, responding to the first invitation causing the first call to be active, receiving a second invitation to a second call while the first call remains active and responding to the second invitation causing the second call to be active and the first call to be on hold, the client station is prevented from originating a call when one call is active and one call is on hold.

Abstract: A method and system for preventing replay attacks on secure data transactions. A replay attack occurs when an unauthorized user intercepts a secure data transaction between a device and a central system and uses the intercepted data to gain access to the central system. One method for preventing such replay attacks is the use of a unique session identification number that is generated for each secure data transaction request. A replay attack is defeated using intercepted data since the unique session identification number is valid only for a completed session and may not be reused. When a device is connected to a server using either wireless or land-line connection, the device requests a session identification number from the server. The server generates and signals to the device a unique session identification number which the device then transmits back to the server along with a request for a secure data transaction.

Abstract: A system and method for preventing replay attacks on secure data transactions are provided. The method aspect of the invention comprises establishing a communicating coupling with an authorized device, receiving a signal from the device requesting a session identification number, generating the session identification number and communicating the session identification number to the device, receiving a signal from the device that comprises a request for secure data transmission and includes the session identification number and coupling the device communicatively to implement the secure data transaction provided the request is authorized based on the session identification number.

Abstract: A system and method for efficiently transmitting useful electronic information from a remote source location to a portable electronic device over a wireless connection is disclosed. A user of an electronic device issues a request to an information transmission system that electronic information be transmitted to the electronic device. The information transmission system retrieves the information from a remote source location and analyzes the information to determine its data format. The information transmission system then compares the data format to a list of supported or compatible data formats to determine if the requested information data format is supported. The information transmission system may also compare the source location of the requested information to a list of unacceptable source locations. The requested information may then be transmitted to the electronic device if the information has a supported format and an acceptable source location.
