Patent number: 10615401Abstract: A cylindrical battery according to an aspect of the present invention includes an electrode assembly including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate wound together via a separator, an electrolytic solution, a bottomed cylindrical housing can, and a sealing unit fixed by crimping of an open end of the housing can via a gasket. The sealing unit includes a valve member having a circular outline, a metal plate connected to a central portion of the valve member so as to be farther inside the battery than the valve member, and an annular insulating member disposed between an outer peripheral portion of the valve member and an outer peripheral portion of the metal plate. The valve member has a sloping region in which the thickness decreases or increases continuously along the radial direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2016Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignee: SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Naoto Kunoike, Kyosuke Miyata, Oose Okutani, Kazutoshi Kohira, Tomohiko Yokoyama, Shinya Geshi

Patent number: 10103370Abstract: A sealed battery including a bottomed cylindrical outer can having an opening, the opening and a sealing body being crimp-sealed with an insulating gasket interposed therebetween, is disclosed. The sealing body includes a first plate-shaped member and a second plate-shaped member bonded to a surface of the first plate-shaped member, the surface facing the outside of the battery. At least the first plate-shaped member is crimp-sealed at an outer periphery thereof, and the crimp-sealed plate-shaped member has a thin portion on at least one surface thereof, the thin portion serving as a starting point of deformation of the sealing body when a battery internal pressure increases. When the battery internal pressure increases, the sealing body is deformed so that a gap is formed between the insulating gasket and the sealing body and gas in the outer can is vented to the outside of the outer can.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2014Date of Patent: October 16, 2018Assignee: SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Naoto Kunoike, Kyosuke Miyata

Publication number: 20120171534Abstract: In a sealed secondary battery, an electrode group 1 formed by winding or stacking a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate with a porous insulator interposed therebetween is housed in a metal case 4. The metal case 4 has an opening sealed by a sealing plate 6 serving as an electrode terminal. One of the positive electrode plate or the negative electrode plate is connected to the sealing plate 6 through a lead. An upper insulating plate as a stack of a first insulating plate 2 and a second insulating plate 7 having a softening temperature higher than that of the first insulating plate 2 is placed above the electrode group 1. An outer periphery of the upper insulating plate is engaged with an engagement part 9 formed in a side surface of the metal case 4.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2010Publication date: July 5, 2012Inventors: Shuji Sugimoto, Naoto Kunoike, Kyosuke Miyata

Publication number: 20100273047Abstract: A gasket that provides sealing between an assembled sealing member and the opening of a battery case includes a high-strength layer inside thereof. The high-strength layer is formed by using a material having a higher strength than that of a gasket body. Examples of such a material include high-strength resins such as polyamide, polyimide and polyphenylene sulfide, and a ceramic. On the other hand, the gasket body is made of a material having a high level of sealing properties. With this configuration, even when extraneous metallic matter or the like is present in a sealed portion, it is possible to prevent both insulating properties and sealing properties of the sealed portion from being impaired.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2009Publication date: October 28, 2010Inventors: Naoto Kunoike, Kenjin Masumoto, Hiroya Tanaka, Tomomichi Ueda, Kyosuke Miyata
