    Abstract: There is provided a vibration suppression device, a machine tool including the device and a vibration suppression method using the device. The vibration suppression device includes a flexible member having a first position F fixed to the structure to be a fixed end of a cantilever and a second position on a free end side; and a weight attached to the flexible member in the second position. The vibration suppression device has an adjustment mechanism for changing a distance between the first position and the second position. Accordingly, it can effectively suppress vibration of a structure, and that can effectively suppress the vibration by easy adjustment when the characteristic of a generated vibration is different.

When analysis is performed for the nonlinear restoring force characteristic of the machine structure system, having force-displacement hysteresis, approximate mode analysis is carried out by representing the nonlinear restoring force characteristic having the history by an equivalent linear characteristic.
