  • Patent number: 7734144
Abstract: A method and apparatus for editing a source video that has already been taken to stabilize images in the video. To eliminate jerky motion from a video, changes in shots are first detected. Then, any jerkiness within the video of that shot is classified and the video is segmented further into smaller segments based on this classification. The jerkiness within the selected segments is removed. The corrected shot, comprising a plurality of frames, is then added to the preceding shot until all shots of the video have been appropriately corrected for jerkiness. To help the user identify the shots being edited, keyframes or snapshots of the shots are displayed, thereby allowing the user to decide whether processing of the shot is desired and which shots should be incorporated into the final video.

  • Publication number: 20090129647
Abstract: Spectrogram extraction from DNA sequence has been known since 2001. A DNA spectrogram is generated by applying Fourier transform to convert a symbolic DNA sequence consisting of letters A, T, C, G into a visual representation that highlights periodicities of co-occurrence of DNA patterns. Given a DNA sequence or whole genomes, with this method it is easy to generate a large number of spectrogram images. However, the difficult part is to elucidate where are the repetitive patterns and to associate a biological and clinical meaning to them. The present disclosure provides systems and methods that facilitate the location and/or identification of repetitive DNA patterns, such as CpG islands, Alu repeats, tandem repeats and various types of satellite repeats. These repetitive elements can be found within a chromosome, within a genome or across genomes of various species.

  • Publication number: 20090041356
Abstract: Method and device for providing a summary of a plurality of images, e.g. a video sequence. The method includes dividing the video sequence into a plurality of segments. The segments are analyzed with respect to content and a set of content descriptors are associated to the segments. Preferably, additional textual information about the segments, screenplay etc., is used to determine the content descriptors. A graph representing relations between the segments is constructed indicating relations between segments. Weights are associated to the relations so as to represent a measure of relation, e.g. a logical correlation, between segments. The weights are based on the calculated content descriptors. A relevance measure for a segment is determined based on all weights associated with relations to said segment. Finally, a summary is generated by selecting the most relevant segments.

  • Publication number: 20090017547
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to new methods and systems performing flexible and reversible modification of DNA in order to establish the logical value of true or false for a set of clauses. It combines both the biological meaning and experimental procedure with the logical implementation of the basic Boolean operators: OR, AND, and NOT. A feature of methylation logic is the use of the reversibility of DNA methylation of cytosine and adenine. Logic variables can be negated by reversing the DNA methylation status. Four implementation scenarios are described: three of them use methyl-sensitive restriction enzymes and the fourth uses methyl-binding proteins. Encoding can use either single or double stranded DNA. In addition, the disclosure allows for solving a multi-variable SAT problems by implementing a logic circuit.

  • Patent number: 7457811
Abstract: A content maintenance system uses a time-dependent precipitation function for iteratively augmenting or removing content over time, after an initial demonstration of user interest. A plurality of parallel precipitation processes can be launched simultaneously in response to different facets of a user expression of interest. Precipitation is dependent on highlighting or extracting segment descriptors from content of interest to the user. Then segments are filtered, rated, annotated and/or prioritized from that content. The remaining segments are matched against stored search structures. When the segments match, they are precipitated out for storage and can generate new search structures.
