An example circuit manager comprises a probe interface to collect data representative of actual utilization of a network, a usage analyzer to estimate a utilization of the network for a future time interval based on the collected data, and a rebalancer to detect a trigger event based on the estimated utilization, and to automatically identify a future virtual circuit path through the network for the future time interval based on the estimated utilization when the trigger event is detected; wherein the probe interface, the usage analyzer and the rebalancer operate repetitively to route data in the network in response to actual data transmissions.

    Abstract: The invention describes a system and method of providing a telecommunication, typically using Signaling System 7 (SS7) protocol, in which data is transferred over a standard communication link (i.e., hardwire, optical fiber) between a first and a second telecommunication device in a telecommunication network, and a communication link is established over a satellite, such as a Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellite, in order to transfer the data between the first and second telecommunication devices when the data transfer over the standard communication link is impaired. Signals are generally converted from a first format to a second format that is suitable for satellite transmission. The first device is typically a Service Switching Point (SSP) and the second device is typically a Signal Transfer Point (STP). The communication link over a satellite is automatically established in response to detecting a failure in the standard communication link.

    Abstract: A method of providing a telecommunication system, including transferring data over a standard link between a first and a second telecommunication device in a telecommunication network and establishing a wireless cellular link to transfer the data between the first and second telecommunication devices when the data transfer over the standard communication link is impaired. The first device may be a Service Switching Point (SSP), and the second device may be a Signal Transfer Point (STP). The standard link may include a hardwire or an optical link. In the wireless cellular link, data is typically transferred using a Signaling System 7 protocol over a cellular network and a Public Switched Telephone Network. The wireless cellular link may be established in response to a failure detected in the standard link. Signals provided by the first device may be converted to and from a format for transmission over the wireless cellular link.

    Abstract: A signaling system 7 (SS7) network includes wireline and failover wireless SS7 links for a communication network having a switched voice network. The SS7 network provides a failover connectivity model which uses available wireless communications data networks to provide wireless SS7 signaling backup for failed wireline SS7 links. Signaling points of the SS7 network are interconnected by wireline and wireless SS7 links. The wireless SS7 link connectivity between two signaling points takes the place of the wireline SS7 link connectivity between these signaling points upon the wireline SS7 link connectivity failing. For example, upon the wireline SS7 link connectivity between a central office (CO) signaling point and another signaling point failing, a wireless data network provides wireless SS7 link connectivity between these signaling points. As a result, the CO is not isolated because of the wireline SS7 link connectivity failure and telephone calls handled by the CO are uninterrupted.
