  • Patent number: 10890469
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for determining, recommending, and applying a calibration parameter to collected activity data. In one embodiment, calibration parameter is estimated based on physical aspects of the user and automatically applied to collected data. In another embodiment, the calibration parameter is determined based on secondary data which is more precise than the data which is collected. The calibration factor based on the more precise data may comprise a recommended calibration factor, yet the user may be enabled to select any calibration factor he/she prefers via an interactive display. In one specific variant, the activity comprises a walk or run activity of the user, and the calibration parameter comprises the user's specific stride length. In another variant, the user selects a calibration factor by reviewing a list of previous activity against that same activity after calibration given a particular calibration factor is applied.

  • Publication number: 20100221695
Abstract: The invention provides a personal training system that delivers the benefits of personal training while overcoming the drawbacks cited above. The invention enables at least one trainee and at least one trainer to interact at mutually convenient times, and in a way that preserves the personal component of the training interaction. In that manner, the invention makes it possible for a trainer to deliver personal, interactive communication, personal support and timely motivation to a trainee. Thus the invention preserves the components of personal training that characterize successful personal training regimens, without imposing the inconveniences, expense and other drawbacks associated with on-site personal training approaches.

  • Publication number: 20070162459
Abstract: A system and method is provided which allows users to create, upload and post user-created content on a website or device that is searchable and accessible from a different website or device. Each user that adds user-created content to a website or device also defines the search criteria that will be used to search for such content. The system and method further creates a distributed network of independent websites that allows user-created content stored on any of the websites to be searched and accessed from any single website in the distributed network without having to leave that website.

Abstract: A system and method is provided which allows users to create, upload and post user-created content to a website or device such that this user-created content is searchable and accessible from a mobile device. The system and method provide a distributed network of independent websites, devices and mobile devices that allows user-created content stored on any of the websites, devices or mobile devices to be searched and accessed from any mobile device in the distributed network. Further, the system and method allows each user that posts user-created content to a website or device to define the search criteria that will be used to search for their posted content, where this user-defined search criteria can be input directly from a mobile device when a mobile device is being used to create and upload user-created content.

  • Publication number: 20050192008
Abstract: A system and method for providing users with granular control over arbitrary information that allows for selective, real-time information sharing in a communications network such as the Internet is provided. In a network including a plurality of network devices operated by a plurality of users, a real-time information exchange system for sharing user profile information between respective users includes a database management system connected to the network. The database management system, which may be distributed across the network, stores the user profile information for a plurality of registered users of the information exchange system The user profile information includes a plurality of data elements, each data element having an associated one of the plurality of registered users. Each data element has an associated group of users to whom access to the data element has been granted, and users not included in the associated group of users are denied access to the data element.
