Also, when the receiver 1 cannot track the artificial satellite, a locator 4 in the position estimation apparatus retrieves, from the information acquisition/storage section 3, a travel speed and a travel direction of the user based on the output value acquired from each of the sensors 2R and 2L and the output value stored in the information acquisition/storage section 3. Thereafter, the locator 4 estimates a current position of the user based on the retrieved travel speed and travel direction.

For this purpose, the input device of the present invention includes: a display unit in which images are displayed; an input detection unit that is disposed to be movable back and forth in front of the display unit and optically detects an operation position indicated for an operation screen displayed in the display unit; a control unit that outputs a control signal corresponding to the detected operation position; and an electric driving unit that moves the input detection unit back and forth. By changing the position of the input detection unit to an operation position suitable to a driver, the driver can operate the electronic apparatus in an optimum position for the driver.

The recovered water is warmed up with the recovered heat, and thereafter stored in the water tank 25. The hot water stored in the water tank 25 is utilized as hot water to be used for controlling the temperature of the mobile unit 20 or supplied as hot water.

    Abstract: On a silicon substrate is formed a silicon dioxide film and then hemispherical grains made of silicon, each having an extremely small diameter, are deposited thereon by LPCVD. After annealing the hemispherical grains, the silicon dioxide film is etched using the hemispherical grains as a first dotted mask, thereby forming a second dotted mask composed of the silicon dioxide film. The resulting second dotted mask is used to etch the silicon substrate to a specified depth from the surface thereof, thereby forming an aggregate of semiconductor micro-needles. Since the diameter of each of the semiconductor micro-needles is sufficiently small to cause the quantum size effects as well as has only small size variations, remarkable quantum size effects can be obtained. Therefore, it becomes possible to constitute a semiconductor apparatus with a high information-processing function by using the aggregate of semiconductor micro-needles (quantized region).

Then, the images from the image pick-up are intermittently obtained at constant periodical intervals, and further the images are compressed using JPEG compression method. Further, in a synthesizer, the feature data from the white line feature extractor and the image data from the intermittent image obtainer are aligned in order of time. Moreover, the image data and feature data, which are aligned in order of time, are conserved within a given constant period by a recorder.
