    Abstract: The invention concerns a high-reliability scroll compressor with little moment for making a fixed scroll unstable. A scroll compressor comprising in a sealed vessel a fixed scroll, an orbiting scroll being combined with the fixed scroll for forming a compression space, and executing orbiting motion with respect to the fixed scroll, a frame for axially supporting the orbiting scroll and radially supporting a drive shaft, and a seal member being disposed in an axial gap between a high and low pressure separator stuck to the frame by any method and the fixed scroll, wherein a base plate outer peripheral surface of the fixed scroll is radially supported by a stationary member coaxial with the base plate outer peripheral surface, and wherein with the stationary member as a guide, the fixed scroll can make axial movement within a range in which it interferes with the orbiting scroll downward in the axial direction and with the high and low pressure separator upward in the axial direction.

    Abstract: A scroll type compressor which includes a compression unit, a crankshaft having an oil passage therein, and an electric motor stator having an oil return hole. An oil pump feeds oil into the oil passage of the crankshaft, and an oil drain tube receives return oil from the compression unit and feeds the oil to the oil return hole of the electric motor stator. The drain oil tube advantageously includes an upper nonflexible drain opening which receives oil from the compression unit. The oil then passes through a nonflexible portion which includes a bend or bent portion, and then to a flexible portion which extends from the elbow into the oil return hole of the electric motor stator.

The spacer is coupled to the fixed scroll and frame, and can be coupled to a center shell of the compressor, for example, by a shrinkage fit. Further, one or more bolts extend from the fixed scroll base plate through the spacer and into the frame. In addition, one or more bolts can be provided which extend from the spacer to the frame to provide for positioning of the spacer with respect to the frame.

A barrel shaped band portion faces the crankshaft and presents a convex surface in at least one of a respective force direction of a compressive load generated in a compression chamber formed between the orbiting scroll and the fixed scroll, and a reactive force direction of a centrifugal load generated by a revolution movement of the orbiting scroll and rotary movements of upper and lower balance weights. The barrel shaped band portion is formed on the sub frame bushing.

    Abstract: A scroll-type compressor is disclosed which has a novel thrust bearing for supporting an orbiting scroll. The thrust bearing is annular and is supported by a bearing support frame which has a plurality of oil return holes formed therein. The diameter of the thrust bearing is smaller than the diameter of the orbiting scroll and of an Oldham coupling which guides the orbiting scroll. The thrust bearing has a plurality of oil passageways for lubricating oil formed therein whose inner ends open onto the central hole and whose outer ends communicate with the oil return holes and do not extend to the outer periphery of the bearing. The oil passageways are always covered by the orbiting scroll. In one form of the invention, the oil passageways are in the form of grooves formed in the upper surface of the bearing and through holes which communicate between the outer ends of the grooves and the oil return holes. In another form of the invention, the oil passageways are slits formed through the depth of the bearing.

    Abstract: A scroll-type apparatus having an improved radial seal and a method for the assembly thereof is disclosed. The spiral wrap of a moving scroll and a stationary scroll are provided with gap adjusting means for providing a gap of a desired size between the top surface of the spiral wrap of each scroll and the top surface of the base plate of the opposing scroll. The gap adjustment means comprises a spiral-shaped elastic element which fits into a groove formed in the top surface of a spiral wrap or on top of a protrusion formed on the top surface of the spiral wrap, to form a nonpressurized seal. The elastic element is supported by the spiral wrap by friction, bonding, or solvent welding.
