  • Publication number: 20120199435
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to inhibit degradation in stiffness of a clutch cover in a type of a clutch cover assembly supporting a diaphragm spring by tabs formed using a part of the clutch cover, and thereby, to prevent unsmooth decoupling of a clutch. The clutch cover assembly includes a clutch cover, a pressure plate and a diaphragm spring. The clutch cover is allowed to be fixed to a flywheel and includes an annularly continued inner peripheral edge. The clutch cover includes a circular opening in its center part and plural tabs between its inner and outer peripheries. Each tab is bent towards the flywheel and further towards the clutch cover outer periphery. The pressure plate holds a friction plate with the flywheel for interposing the friction plate therebetween. The diaphragm spring is supported by the clutch cover tabs.

  • Patent number: 6789656
Abstract: A clutch cover assembly 1 having a wear compensating mechanism having accurate wear compensation is provided. In the clutch cover assembly 1, a restricting mechanism 25 restricts movement of a pressure plate 22 away from a friction facing 11 in a clutch release operation. The restricting mechanism 25 is configured to detect an amount of wear of the friction facing 11, and to shift a stopping position of the pressure plate 22 moving away from the friction facing 11 in accordance with the wear amount toward the friction facing 11. A strap plate 26 biases the pressure plate 22 away from the friction facing 11. A leaf spring 35 axially biases the pressure plate 22 and the fulcrum ring 23 toward each other.

  • Patent number: 6050381
Abstract: In a clutch cover assembly, a regulating mechanism allows a fulcrum ring to move in an axial direction away from a pressure plate in response to wear of a friction facing, but limits amount of movement in accordance with the amount of wear. The regulating mechanism includes a bolt and a bushing. The bolt is fixed to a second side face of the pressure plate and extends axially. The bushing is engaged with the bolt by the friction force. In an alternate embodiment, an urging mechanism of the clutch cover assembly urges a fulcrum ring away from the pressure plate. The fulcrum ring is formed with a plurality of first inclined faces which engage second inclined faces formed on a wedge part. A friction plate is disposed between the pressure plate and the wedge part limiting movement of the wedge part.

  • Patent number: 6024199
Abstract: A clutch cover assembly 1 is provided with a biasing mechanism 24 disposed between a pressure plate 22 and a fulcrum ring 23 for biasing the fulcrum ring 23 axially away from the pressure plate 23. The biasing mechanism 24 includes a first support plate 31, a second support plate 32, and return springs 33. The first and second support plates 31 and 32 are movable relative to each other in the circumferential direction. The first and second support plates 31 and 32 include first and second tilted surfaces 31a and 32a, respectively, that abut on each other. The return springs 33 are disposed in an inner circumference of the first and second support plates 31 and 32. Each return spring 33 is a tension spring which biases the first and the second support plates 31 and 32 relative to each other in the circumferential direction. Thus, clutch cover assembly 1 is equipped with a wear compensation mechanism that has a simplified biasing mechanism 24 located between the fulcrum ring 23 and the pressure plate 22.
