Patent number: 7767935Abstract: A thin battery powered lighter, which has superior portability and usable as an advertising medium, is provided. The lighter includes a thin flat case (2); a sheet type battery (3) provided within the case (2); a heating element (4) connected to the battery (3); and a power switch (5) for establishing an electrical connection between the battery (3) and the heating element (4). The case (2) includes a slide member (6) for opening and closing an ignition window (21), which is provided at a position that the heating element faces (4), and an operating button (51) for operating the power switch (5). When the ignition window (21) is closed by the slide member (6), a portion of the slide member is interposed between contact points of the switch, precluding an operation of the operating button (51). The electrical connection is enabled by operating the operating button (51) in a state in which the ignition window (21) is open.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2003Date of Patent: August 3, 2010Inventors: Yoshihiro Kashoji, Noriyuki Serizawa

Patent number: 6013903Abstract: A flame reaction member for a gas appliance has a flame reaction material carrier having a coiled or looped flame reaction material holding portion and flame reaction material carried on the flame reaction material holding portion. When manufacturing such a flame reaction member, a powder composition of the flame reaction material is molded into a body of a predetermined shape. The molded body is heated with the molded body held adjacent to the flame reaction material holding portion and is fused to the flame reaction material holding portion. The flame reaction material holding portion of the flame reaction material carrier is formed of flat wire material.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1997Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Inventors: Hideo Mifune, Masato Seki, Noriyuki Serizawa

Patent number: 5738507Abstract: A gas igniter comprising a main body provided with a gas tank for storing liquified gas to be used as a fuel, a front pipe in the form of a hollow bar extending from the main body, a jetting nozzle for jetting out a gas, and a gas pipe connected between the main body and the jetting nozzle. The nozzle is disposed at a front part of the front pipeAt least a part of the front pipe, excluding the front part thereof where the jetting nozzle is disposed, is formed by a flexible member having a restoring force whereby it is bent so that the direction in which the front part is pointed is changed, when an external force is applied, and is restored to the original state in which it is at the time when the external force is not applied, after the external force is released.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1996Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Tokai CorporationInventors: Hideo Mifune, Noriyuki Serizawa, Takayuki Suzuki

Patent number: 5716204Abstract: A combustion device in a lighter, such as a gas lighter, comprises a base portion, which is associated with a nozzle for jetting a fuel gas and is provided with a primary air hole for introducing primary air into the fuel gas having been jetted from the nozzle, and a combustion cylinder, in which the fuel gas containing the primary air mixed in is burned. The combustion cylinder has a multiple pipe structure comprising a combustion inner pipe, in which the fuel gas containing the primary air mixed in flows, and a combustion outer pipe, which is located around the outer periphery of the combustion inner pipe and at a predetermined spacing from the combustion inner pipe. The space, which is defined between the combustion inner pipe and the combustion outer pipe, is formed as a secondary air flow path, through which secondary air is supplied to a combustion flame.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1996Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: Tokai CorporationInventors: Hideo Mifune, Noriyuki Serizawa, Masato Seki, Shinichi Okawa
