  • Patent number: 5730370
Abstract: A spray nozzle assembly has a main nozzle body defining a socket having a part-spherical surface. A nozzle ball is mounted within the nozzle socket and, in known manner a collar or the like is used to secure the ball in position. To provide an adequate seal between the nozzle ball and the nozzle body, a sealing lip is provided on the nozzle ball. This lip extends radially outwardly beyond the nozzle ball. The lip can be in the form of a cone tangential with the spherical surface. This sealing configuration can be used for other purposes, and is generally applicable to providing a connection between two fluid conduits, which are required to meet at an angle that is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4961597
Abstract: A sealing ring for use in sealing a spigot and the like in an oversized hole is formed of resilient material and comprises a proximal portion, a distal portion and an intermediate seating portion. The proximal portion has an external diameter greater than the diameter of the hole and is adapted for location in a seating groove surrounding the spigot The distal portion has an external diameter between The diameters of the spigot and the hole and an internal diameter less than the spigot diameter and is adapted for location in the gap between the spigot and the hole. The intermediate seating portion is between the proximal and distal portions and tapers inwardly from the proximal portion to the distal portion such that the intermediate seating portion seats on the edge of the hole and centers the seal and spigot.

  • Patent number: 4142682
Abstract: An insert is shown for a solid cone type spray nozzle as well as a method of making the insert. The insert has a central planar web having a rounded lower edge portion and a pair of obliquely oppositely disposed vanes located perpendicular to the web. The vanes have distal portions extending past the plane of the web and have recesses located adjacent to the distal portions to produce the required turbulent and swirling fluid motion inside the spray nozzle. The inserts are produced from bar stock by forming first and second parallel oblique grooves to define a vane between the grooves, and removing a portion of bar stock material from the peripheral edge portion of the second groove adjacent to the vane. The bar stock is rotated 180.degree., third and fourth parallel oblique grooves are formed crossing the first and second grooves, and a similar portion of bar stock is removed from the peripheral edge portion of the fourth groove. A second vane is thus formed between the third and fourth grooves.
