  • Patent number: 7170480
Abstract: A color video display apparatus comprises a pixel array with each pixel containing one or more LEDs for generating each of the selected colors and a diffractive optical element positioned in front of the array to form the transmitted light into a substantially elliptical pattern. Improved uniformity for the apparatus is achieved by measuring the intensity of each separate color generating LED in each pixel, recording each intensity and varying the current to each separate color LED or LEDs so that every LED or LEDs responsible for each color to provide a suitable color output. A feature of the apparatus is that a number of separate modules, each having a pixel array, can be combined to construct a video image board. These boards have applications in such areas as billboards along roadways and as signs in stadiums.

  • Patent number: 5328597
Abstract: A self-contained electronic monitoring unit for attachment to a device, such as a water filter, designed to be used until the occurrence of a predetermined event such as a predetermined number of uses, includes transducer for providing distinct outputs such as different audio output signals. A programmed integrated circuit and use detecting means such as electrical contacts detect each use of the device and monitor when the device is operational, when the end of life event is imminent and has occurred. The integrated circuit is programmed to operate the transducer to produce output signals during each use of the device informing the user that the device is operational, that the predetermined event or end of useful life is imminent and that the useful life has expired. The unit includes a battery for supplying power to the transducer and integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 4845470
Abstract: A tamper evident closure apparatus is described in which a closure sensing switch is positioned inside of a container for nonprescription drugs and the like for producing a lid removal signal upon the removal of the lid from the container. A sound signal generator responds to the lid removal signal and generates an auditory sound of safety signal informing the person opening the container that the lid has not been previously removed. A safety circuit also responds to the removal of the lid and inhibits the sound signal generator from responding to a second or subsequent lid removal signal so that the replacement and subsequent removal of the lid will not trigger the generation of a second sound of safety signal.
