  • Publication number: 20090100071
Abstract: An image transmission apparatus is high in convenience, operability and reliability when newly registering a transmission destination to an address book. The apparatus obtains a list of destination names corresponding to recipients who have registered a recipient setting designating a transmission method; receives from a user a selection of whether to follow the recipient setting; receives from the user (a) if a selection to not follow the recipient setting has been received, a destination name and a transmission method to correspond thereto, and (b) if a selection to follow the recipient setting has been received, a selection of a destination name from the list; in the case of (a), registers the destination name and the transmission method in association as a candidate for the destination; and in the case of (b), registers the selected destination name with an indication that the recipient setting is to be followed, as a candidate.

  • Publication number: 20090091776
Abstract: An image transmission apparatus includes a storage part that stores previous transmission methods; a receiving part that receives a destination name from a sender (S4); an obtaining part that obtains, from the address server computer, a new transmission method registered in association with the received destination name (S10); an extracting part that extracts the previous transmission method stored in association with the received destination name (S13); and a selection part that has a sender select one of the obtained new transmission method and the extracted previous transmission method (S20). The image transmission apparatus resolves problems such as a high communication charge being incurred or an image being unable to be transmitted as intended by the sender without a sender realizing, in an environment where recipients can each arbitrarily select a destination according to a setting.

  • Publication number: 20090094254
Abstract: An image transmission system includes an image transmission device and a server that provides recipient information including recipient specification information and a transmission method and destination for image data. The server records, in association with a recipient identifier, recipient-designated recipient information and display mode designation information indicating a display mode for the recipient information. Each time the recipient information and display mode designation information is updated, the server overwrites the recorded information with the updated recipient information and display mode designation information.

  • Publication number: 20090059280
Abstract: Personal address books of users are stored in an address server. Each user registers, with the personal address book of his/her own, conditions (transmission conditions) that should be satisfied when other users transmit image data to the user. The conditions are registered in correspondence with addresses of the other users. When one of the other users transmits (as a transmission source) to the user (as a transmission destination) who has set the transmission conditions, from an MFP, the transmission conditions, which were set by the transmission destination user with respect to the transmitter, are downloaded from the address server to the transmission source MFP. And then the MFP transmits the image data to the transmission destination user under the downloaded transmission conditions. This enables the transmission destination user to cause the image data to be transmitted thereto under such conditions that match the needs of the transmission destination user.

  • Publication number: 20090055644
Abstract: An address list management apparatus stores, for each user of an MFP (Multi Function Peripheral), a different address list that lists address information pieces for transmission of image data by the MFP. Upon being instructed by a logged-in user to transmit image data, the MFP transmits, to the address list management apparatus, a request for the address list that specifies the user. Upon receiving the request, the address list management apparatus transmits, to the MFP, a sending list pertaining to the user. The sending list is created by deleting secret information from address information pieces in the address list, and modifying such address information pieces so that image data is transmitted to the address list management apparatus. The address list management apparatus refers to the address list, and transfers the image data to the specified address.

  • Publication number: 20080239374
Abstract: An image processing apparatus (2) capable of providing a box for each user is provided. The image processing apparatus (2) includes a user grouping process portion (205) that determines a total of an amount of a box of a first user that has been used by a second user and an amount of a box of the second user that has been used by the first user, determines whether or not the total is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount, and groups both the users when the total is equal to or greater than the predetermined amount, and a box reset process portion (207) that performs a reset process for providing again the boxes of the grouped first user and the grouped second user in an identical image processing apparatus if the boxes are provided in different image processing apparatuses.

  • Publication number: 20080088867
Abstract: An image processing system and a software program which simplify customizations when a program for operations in connection with image processing is installed in a plural number of image processing apparatuses. When a program for operations in connection with image processing is newly installed in a first MFP, the first MFP makes an inquiry to other MFPs which are connected to the first MFP via a network. When a second MFP is already installed with the same program and has information on individual users' settings for the program, the first MFP receives the setting information from the second MFP. Then, referring to history information and device information, the first MFP judges whether to store the setting information therein and whether to make modifications to the setting information.

  • Publication number: 20080007755
Abstract: An MFP (A) on a document transmission side transmits a document to an MFP (B) on a document reception side. The MFP (A) stores the transmitted document. The MFP (A) acquires a status of the transmitted document from the MFP (B). If the MFP (B) deletes the document in an unread state, the MFP (A) retransmits the stored document to the MFP (B).
