  • Publication number: 20240117923
Abstract: A tripod comprising a head assembly and three legs, wherein each of the three legs is pivotally coupled at a proximal end thereof to the head assembly, the legs having a closed configuration in which they are arranged substantially parallel to each other, and an operative configuration in which the distal ends of the legs are extended outwards; wherein the head assembly includes a head body and a locking ring rotatably coupled to the head body; wherein the locking ring has a first orientation relative to the head body in which portions of the locking ring engage each of the legs in their operative configuration and the locking ring prevents displacement of each leg from its operative configuration to its closed configuration; and the locking ring has a second orientation relative to the head body in which peripheral portions of the locking ring are spaced from each of the legs and the legs are permitted to be displaced from their operative configuration to their closed configuration

  • Patent number: 11806559
Abstract: A coupler to couple a D-ring from a harness to a fall arrest device connector provides walls to guide and contain the harness webbing whilst allowing it to move freely (reducing webbing wear) and does not necessitate the removal of the coupler, connector, or D-ring as may be required for harness size adjustment. The coupler has a circular passageway which runs through the length allowing a shaft of the connector to couple to the part whilst maintaining 180 degrees of swivel. The coupler also has a groove which runs along the length to fit onto a central bar of the harness D-ring. The design is such that, during a fall, should the device break, the webbing will remain securely coupled to the D-ring of the harness.

  • Publication number: 20230313826
Abstract: An anchor for insertion into an aperture, wherein the anchor includes a body element, two or more elongate engagement members, and a release element. The body element has a first end and an opposed second end, and the body element defines a tapered surface adjacent to a first end portion of the body element. The release element is slidably coupled to the body element. Each of the engagement members has a first end via which the engagement member is coupled to the release element, and a second end which includes a radially outwardly projecting lug. The second ends of the engagement members engage the tapered surface defined by the body element. When the release element is in a release position relative to the body element, the second ends of the engagement members are engaged with a relatively narrow portion of the tapered surface and the lugs are in a radially contracted configuration.

  • Publication number: 20220134150
Abstract: A safety harness connector assembly comprises a strap connector and an insert. The strap connector includes a base through which a base bore longitudinally extends and an extension. The base and the extension form an opening configured and arranged to receive a strap of a safety harness. The insert includes an intermediate portion interconnecting a first side and a second side, and the intermediate portion is configured and arranged to be received within the base bore. The first side includes a protrusion and the second side includes a shoulder portion. The protrusion and the shoulder portion are configured and arranged to engage opposing ends of the base when the intermediate portion is received within the base bore to secure the insert within the base.

  • Publication number: 20220055858
Abstract: A retractable tool lanyard comprises a housing, a drum rotatably connected to the housing, a biasing member interconnecting the housing and the drum, a cord operatively connected to the drum and adapted to be wound about and paid out from the drum, and an engaging mechanism. The engaging mechanism comprises a locking plate connected to the drum, at least one lock pawl connected to the locking plate, and a ratchet plate. When the drum rotates at a predetermined speed, the at least one lock pawl pivots from an unlocked position to a locked position to engage the ratchet plate thereby rotating the ratchet plate with the drum. At least one of a braking mechanism and a clicker pawl are used to create friction to assist in reducing a rate of rotation of the drum.

  • Publication number: 20200276463
Abstract: This invention relates to a safety line system for use by a person working at a height above the ground. In particular the invention relates to a support post for a safety line system. A support post assembly for supporting a fall safety line comprises a base; a support post to which a fall safety line is connectable, the support post having a longitudinal axis; cooperating curved bearing surfaces disposed between the base and the support post; and a detent assembly for preventing relative movement of the bearing surfaces below a threshold force, application of a force to the support post by the fall safety line above the threshold force causing the support post to pivot with respect to the base such that the bearing surfaces slide with respect to each other and friction between the bearing surfaces dissipates energy.

  • Publication number: 20200107615
Abstract: A combination strap connector and adjuster for connecting straps of a safety harness and for adjusting at least one of the straps comprises a base including a first connector portion, a second connector portion, and a third connector portion. The first connector portion is configured and arranged to directly connect to a first strap extending in a first direction away from the base. The second connector portion is configured and arranged to directly connect to a second strap extending in a second direction away from the base. The third connector portion is configured and arranged to directly connect to a third strap extending in a third direction away from the base. The first, second, and third directions are different directions relative to the base. An adjuster is operatively connected to at least one of the connector portions.

  • Publication number: 20190209878
Abstract: One aspect relates to a tensioning device comprising a pulley including a drive spindle and a pulley wheel connected to the drive spindle, a lifeline passing, in use, around the pulley wheel; a locking member configured to engage, in use, with a part of said lifeline to prevent relative movement of the lifeline with respect to the locking member in a first direction; and a handle assembly connected to the drive spindle, the handle assembly being moveable between a first, disengaged position in which rotation of the handle assembly does not cause rotation of the drive spindle and a second, engaged position in which rotation of the handle assembly rotates the drive spindle, rotation of the drive spindle rotating the pulley to move the lifeline in a second direction relative to the locking member, thereby tensioning the lifeline.
