  • Publication number: 20150289918
Abstract: Systems and methods contour a medical implant and provide a first tool, a second tool and a medical implant, wherein each of the first tool, the second tool and the medical implant are individually sterilized and packaged. After unpackaging the sterile first tool, the sterile second tool and the sterile medical implant, a first fixed portion of the sterile medical implant is inserted into, and held by, a first channel of the first tool. A second fixed portion of the sterile medical implant is inserted into, and held by, a second channel of the second tool. The sterile first tool is moved relative to the sterile second tool to apply deformation forces to the at least a portion of the sterile medical implant for contouring the sterile medical implant at a deformation portion of the sterile medical implant, located between the sterile first and second tools.

  • Publication number: 20150039038
Abstract: An orthopedic screw fastener system which includes at least two screws and at least one bone plate. At least one screw is a locking screw comprising a screw head and a screw shank, the screw head being provided with a thread. At least one other screw is a non-locking screw comprising a non-threaded (i.e., smooth) screw head and a screw shank. The at least one bone plate has a thickness and it has at least two through-bores which are able to receive screws. The plate has two or more through-openings, each formed by at least two through-bores, each through-bore being defined by a midpoint and by a radius, and the through-bores are offset relative to each other and intersect each other in such a way that intersection lines and/or intersection surfaces extend into the depth of the through-opening.

  • Patent number: 8043380
Abstract: A spine implant system having two or more adjacent segments that have a male-female annular interlocking relationship for increased mechanical stability and resistance to relative translation and rotation. One or more segments is provided with at least one perforation channel or void to promote osteo-induction within the segment. Optionally, two adjacent segments have at least one common or aligned perforation channel or void. Two or more spaced apart portions of a segment surface are optionally chamfered to provide easier fabrication and/or positioning of the segment. Two spaced apart exposed surface planes of an interlocked segment pair optionally are axially oriented at a small positive angle relative to each other, to approximate natural spine curvature. Segments in some embodiments have a curvilinear delta cross sectional shape and/or have crosshatched grooves in exposed surfaces. Many of the embodiments are useful in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF).
