  • Patent number: 9025592
Abstract: The present invention relates to a switching center server (100) handling calls, comprising a blade cluster with a plurality of different blades (110), a distributor (125, 170) distributing a message relating to a call to one of the blades, a master (130, 150) centrally controlling a usage of pooled resources by said plurality of blades (110) for handling the call, wherein the distributor contacts the master for retrieving the information to which blade said message is to be distributed. The different blades in the blade cluster are seen from the outside as one node, so that for message distribution the master is contacted in order to distribute the message relating to a call to the blade that is handling said call.

  • Patent number: 8929892
Abstract: The present invention relates to location based network selection in a mobile terminal moving (A to H) in a wireless communication environment set up of a home network in a home country having a border and at least one foreign network achieving radio coverage at least in part of the geographical area of the home country. A position (A to H) of the mobile terminal is monitored. Then, a network selection mode is automatically switched from a home network selection mode, enabling registration only to the home network, to an automatic network selection mode when the mobile terminal crosses the border from the home country to the foreign country. The network selection mode is switched back to the home network selection mode when the mobile terminal is again located in the home country. Thus, as long as the mobile terminal is located in the home country, it does never select any other network than the home network. When located abroad, automatic network selection applies.

  • Publication number: 20140347984
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bandwidth managing unit (200) configured to manage unidirectional data transfers of data to mobile user entities (100) in a mobile communications network (300), the bandwidth managing unit comprising:—a data transfer detecting unit configured to receive data transfer requests of the mobile user entities (100) in the mobile communications network, each data transfer request requesting a unidirectional transfer of data from a content provider,—a network condition determining unit (220) configured to determine data transfer conditions in the mobile communications network (300) for the different data transfers to the corresponding mobile user entities (100),—a data transfer scheduler (270) configured to determine, for each detected data transfer request, a point in time when the requested data transfer should be initiated, taking into account the data transfer conditions in the mobile communications network (300) for the data transfer to the corresponding mobile user entity (100

  • Publication number: 20140119171
Abstract: The present invention relates to a switching center server comprising: a blade cluster with a plurality of blades, a plurality of pooled resources accessible by said plurality of blades for handling a call, and a master provided on one of the blades centrally coordinating the usage of the pooled resources, the master as a central instance being responsible for allocation, de-allocation and maintenance of the pooled resources. At outage of one or more blades, the invention provides mechanisms to keep impacts on ongoing calls to a minimum and to keep pooled resources available to the remaining blades.

  • Publication number: 20120302215
Abstract: A method is described for screening calls using a voice-mail system in a communication network (106). A call is initiated between a calling party (102) and a called party (104). The calling party is connected to a voicemail system (108), when the called party (104) answers the call or if the called party does not answer when a timer expires. If the called party answers the call a conference call is established (210) so that the call can be screened from the start of the message being left, and also intercepted if desired.

  • Publication number: 20110307570
Abstract: A network node (10) controls resources (22) in a network. The node (10) includes processing units (12) and assigns, for each set of resources (22), to a unit (12) a master role consisting in reserving and releasing resources (22) and to two processing units (12), named controllers, the role of controlling resources (22). A controller (12c) operates in a first mode when a master role is assigned to a processing unit (12m) and the unit (12m) is available to reserve and release resources (22). A controller (12c) operates in a second mode when no master role is assigned or when a master role is assigned to a unit (12m) which is not available to reserve and release resources (22). In the second mode, a controller (12c) maintains a list (14) of resources (22) to be released and selects a resource (22) from the list (14) to reserve a resource (22).

  • Patent number: 7512073
Abstract: A method and a signaling node for reducing signaling during call setup in a communication network. The signaling node is an intermediate node on a signaling path between an origination node and a destination node. When a call setup delay is experienced, the intermediate node receives a first excessive delay indication signal from the destination node and forwards the signal to the origination node. A timer for supervising excessive delay indication signals is then started in the intermediate node. Prior to expiration of the timer, additional excessive delay indication signals received from the destination node are not forwarded. After expiration of the timer, the intermediate node sends a single excessive delay indication signal to the origination node.
