  • Patent number: 6961276
Abstract: A random access memory circuit comprises a plurality of memory cells and at least one decoder coupled to the memory cells, the decoder being configurable for receiving an input address and for accessing one or more of the memory cells in response thereto. The random access memory circuit further comprises a plurality of sense amplifiers operatively coupled to the memory cells, the sense amplifiers being configurable for determining a logical state of one or more of the memory cells. A controller coupled to at least a portion of the sense amplifiers is configurable for selectively operating in at least one of a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode of operation, the controller enables one of the sense amplifiers corresponding to the input address and disables the sense amplifiers not corresponding to the input address. In the second mode of operation, the controller enables substantially all of the sense amplifiers.

  • Patent number: 6959674
Abstract: A valve gear mechanism for an internal combustion engine includes a camshaft in a separate cylinder head for controlling the stroke of a gas shuttle valve by means of an interposed rocker arm, which is mounted in the cylinder head of a piston that performs a lifting motion of a hydraulic valve-play compensation element. The aim of the invention is to achieve a play-free surface liaison of mechanical origin between the actuating elements of the gas shuttle valve. To achieve this, the piston of the hydraulic compensation element has a device that acts on an instrument for mechanically actuating a lifting stroke in order to achieve a play-free surface liaison of the contract surfaces of the rocker arm and an additional valve gear element, while the valve-play compensation element is maintained hydraulically without pressure.

  • Publication number: 20050237019
Abstract: In a method for robot-controlled cutting of workpieces to be joined by laser radiation, a first workpiece is arranged in vicinity of a second workpiece in a first position. A laser is focused onto the first workpiece. A contour of the first workpiece is cut with the laser beam; this contour is to be assembled and joined with the second workpiece. During cutting, a first spacing of a focal point of the laser beam from the second workpiece is repeatedly determined in a distance direction that is identically oriented during cutting and is adjusted to a direction of assembling the first and second workpieces. During cutting, a second spacing of a processing point of the laser beam from the second workpiece is maintained at a constant value.

  • Patent number: 6955975
Abstract: A method for joining a silicon plate to a second plate, a laser beam being directed through the silicon plate at the second plate. In the process, the wavelength of the laser beam is selected in such a way that only a negligibly small amount of energy is absorbed in the silicon plate. A strongly absorbent material is hotmelted by the laser beam's energy and then produces a bond between the silicon plate and the second plate.

  • Patent number: 6957072
Abstract: Mobile station positioning methods are calibrated using an error bias estimation for refining the determination of the mobile station location which does not require any added hardware to the telecommunications system. The position of the mobile station is calculated assuming no bias errors and a first order approximation of the mobile station position is derived as a function of the bias error. The bias error is then estimated and used to refine the previously calculated mobile station position.

  • Patent number: 6956876
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for coupling a multimode laser to a multimode fiber using a multimode tapered structure. The disclosed multimode tapered structure accepts an optical beam having a highly elliptical beam shape and converts the optical beam for acceptance by the circular multimode optical fiber. According to one aspect of the invention, the multimode tapered structure has a tapered form having an elliptical cross section at one end to match the rectangular laser aperture, and a circular cross section at the other end to match the fiber core. The disclosed multimode tapered structure is tapered from a smaller dimension at the input end that matches the dimension of the multimode light source to a larger dimension at the output end that matches the circular core of the multimode fiber. Depending on the selection of the numerical aperture and the length of the multimode tapered structure, coupling efficiencies up to 98 percent may be achieved with the present invention.

  • Patent number: H2132
Abstract: Polyester containers having a reduced coefficient of friction (“COF”) are produced by increasing the surface roughness of the polyester using either thermal crystallization or solvent crystallization. Because the low COF reduces or eliminates friction between polyester containers, the containers do not become entangled and disrupt the manufacturing process. As a result, the containers move easily through typical conveying and filling lines in manufacturing processes that use the containers.
