  • Publication number: 20210329536
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a user equipment (UE) dynamically adjusting a non-access stratum (NAS) timer. Specifically, the UE may determine operation in a wideband and support of an extended coverage (EC) restriction. The UE may further identify a duration of a non-access stratum (NAS) timer based on determining operation in the wideband and the EC restriction. The UE may further transmit an access request message to a network entity to trigger a mobility management procedure. The UE may further receive an acceptance message from the network entity indicating an unrestricted or restricted status of the EC restriction. The UE may further apply the duration to the NAS timer based on the acceptance message indicating the unrestricted or restricted status of the EC restriction received from the network entity or a history of EC restrictions of a public land mobile network (PLMN) in a defined geographic area.

  • Patent number: 11071152
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify that a radio resource control connection is to be established for evolved packet system fallback or inter radio access technology fallback from New Radio for a voice call. The UE may determine that an establishment cause received from a network access stratum (NAS) layer does not indicate high priority access. The UE may override the establishment cause such that the establishment cause indicates a mobile originated (MO) voice call based at least in part on determining that the establishment cause received from the NAS layer does not indicate high priority access. The UE may perform an access barring check of an MO voice call based at least in part on overriding the establishment cause such that the establishment cause indicates an MO voice call. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11026176
Abstract: Device wakeups can consume a significant amount of power with respect to the device's total power battery lifetime. Aspects of a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are presented herein that provide a solution to the problem of battery strain by improving the manner in which a wireless device coordinates device wakeup for multiple applications or multiple operations. An apparatus receives a wakeup time interval from each of a plurality of applications. The apparatus forms a first device wakeup time interval, the first device wakeup time interval including overlapping wakeup time intervals for the plurality of applications. The apparatus schedules a device wakeup during at least the first device wakeup time interval.

  • Publication number: 20210153087
Abstract: Some aspects described herein relate to determining to fallback from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT to perform an emergency call, and deprioritizing, based on the determining to fallback, access to the first RAT to continue to use the second RAT for at least a period of time after the emergency call.

  • Publication number: 20210051540
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). In one aspect, the UE is configured to generate a handover request related to a wireless communication session between the UE and a wireless local area network (WLAN) device, and establish, independent of an access check, a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a base station. In another aspect, the UE is configured to perform an access check based on a bias value, and establish an RRC connection with a base station based on a result of the access check. The access check performed based on a communication indicator related to a wireless communication session between the UE and a WLAN device.

  • Publication number: 20210045177
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a network configuration procedure has failed a threshold number of times for a first radio access technology (RAT). The UE may perform a first action to prevent execution of the network configuration procedure until a timer has elapsed based at least in part on determining that the network configuration procedure has failed the threshold number of times. The first action may include transmitting a message that indicates that the UE does not have a capability to communicate using the first RAT, barring a cell or a tracking area of the first RAT or a second RAT that assists with establishing a radio access network connection for the first RAT, and/or refraining from reporting measurement results for the first RAT. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Publication number: 20210037367
Abstract: A UE in cellular communication system may be equipped with multiple User Services Identity Modules (USIMs) to support multiple service subscriptions. The UE having multiple service subscriptions may obtain services from one or more wireless networks with each of the subscriptions. When the UE having multiple service subscriptions needs to make an emergency call, the UE may identify and determine a service subscription to make the emergency call, so that the emergency call can be successfully made. The UE may be implemented with a communication processor (modem) and an application processor (AP). Some information that is useful to identify a service subscription more suitable for the emergency call may be available only at the communication processor. Enhanced techniques for identifying and determining a service subscription to make the emergency call from the multiple service subscriptions through interaction between the communication processor and the application processor are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190158562
Abstract: A decoding complexity may be used to predict power consumption for receiving, decoding, and/or displaying multimedia content at a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The decoding complexity may be based on decoding complexity feedback received from a reference device, such as another WTRU. The decoding complexity feedback may be based on measurements performed at the reference device for receiving decoding, and/or displaying the multimedia content. A content providing device may indicate the decoding complexity of requested media content to a WTRU, or another network entity. The decoding complexity may be indicated in a streaming protocol or file associated with the media content. The WTRU, or other network entity, may use the decoding complexity determine its preferences regarding transmission of the media content. • Publication number: 20180316736
Abstract: A multi-hypothesis rate adaptation technique may be performed for one or more wireless multimedia streaming scenarios. Managing a multimedia streaming session may involve sending, by a client, a request for a first portion of content to a server. A response may be received from a proxy. The response may comprise the first portion of content and information associated with a second portion of content available via the proxy. A request may be sent to the proxy for the proxy to deliver the second portion of content to the client. A change in a parameter associated with the multimedia streaming session may be determined based on data received from the proxy. It may be determined to change a rate adaptation. A Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) may be configured to perform the rate adaptation.
