    Abstract: The disk recording/reproducing apparatus of the present invention has a magnetic head which ascends or descends between a descent position proximate to a disk recording medium housed in a cartridge and an ascent position which is separate from the medium, an ascending/descending control lever which controls ascent/descent of the magnetic head, a driving section which drives the ascending/descending control lever, and an ejecting operation section which couples with the ascending/descending control lever and can move between a position where the cartridge is allowed to be ejected out of the apparatus and a position where the cartridge is disabled from being ejected in accordance with the movement of the ascending/descending control lever, wherein the length of movement of the ascending/descending control lever is greater than the length of movement of the ejection operation section.

The connecting member is fixed on one side of the optical pickup, and another side of the optical pickup is anchored on the guide shaft. The optical pickup is driven in a direction parallel to the guide shaft and the lead screw by the feeding motor via the connecting member.     Abstract: A cassette loading device is provided with a chassis, a cassette holder for holding a cassette, a link mechanism, an urging member which urges the cassette holder to move from a first position to a second position, and a damper. The link mechanism includes a lever. One end of the lever is rotatably carried by one of the chassis and the cassette holder while the other end of the lever is provided with a gear part and is slidably engaging the other of the chassis and the cassette holder. The gear part is composed of at least two gears having different pitch circles. The damper also has a gear part which is arranged to engage the gear part of the lever.

The apparatus is provided with a rewinding mode in which the above-mentioned recording medium is transported in a direction reverse to the above-mentioned predetermined direction without performing the recording or reproduction of signals, with the rotary heads being in the condition where they can trace the recording medium. In this rewinding mode, the rotary heads are rotated in a direction reverse to their rotating direction during the recording or reproduction of signals.
