  • Patent number: 5933115
Abstract: A microstrip antenna (100) achieves wider bandwidth by using an asymmetric radiating structure (110). The radiating structure (110) supports at least two resonating modes, which are preferably a differential and a common resonating mode. A feed system (130, 135) is coupled to the radiating structure (110) to excite the respective resonating modes at different frequencies to provide a radiating band for communication signals. Preferably, the antenna (100) includes patch radiators (112, 114) of substantially different widths, and a buried microstrip line (130) that simultaneously feeds the patch radiators (112, 114).

  • Patent number: 5557293
Abstract: A dual loop antenna (100) provides a dual frequency band response. The dual loop antenna (100) is configured on a substrate (102) which includes first and second radiator elements (106, 206) coupled through a common feed element (108).

  • Patent number: 5317326
Abstract: A modified folded dipole antenna (20) comprises a central feeder (23), first and second portions (38 and 40) coupled to the feeder. The first and second portions have first and second folded ends (42 and 44). The folded ends are in close proximity to each other and are electromagnetically coupled to each other. Thus, a modified folded dipole antenna is formed which receives and/or transmits radio signals in at orthogonal orientations.

  • Patent number: 5138328
Abstract: An integral diversity antenna especially suited for use in a laptop computer device without the need for changing or otherwise altering such devices pre-established form factor. Two separately located printed circuit board antenna structures are orthogonally mounted in an associated counterpoise. One such antenna structure is vertically polarized and the other horizontally polarized. In this manner, both spatial and polarization diversity is achieved. The counterpoise serves the additional purpose of affecting both RFI and EMI shielding of the laptop computer's LCD display and driven circuitry.

  • Patent number: 5075691
Abstract: A multi-resonant antenna is formed by a plurality of resonators which resonate at different frequencies. A feed member is coupled to the multi-resonant resonators. Disposed between and separating the resonators from the feed member is a dielectric substrate.

  • Patent number: 4661992
Abstract: A portable radio transceiver and mobile mount housing are disclosed which utilize a switchless connector for connecting the portable unit to an external antenna which is electrically coupled to the mobile mount. In the preferred embodiment, the portable radio is equipped with an internal antenna which is either coupled to an electrical contact on the exterior of the portable unit adaptable to making electrical contact with a similar contact on the inside of the mobile housing when the portable radio is inserted therein. The internal antenna in the portable unit is shielded by the metallic mobile mount housing which obviates the need to disconnect the same. In one embodiment the contact disposed on the portable unit exterior is connected to a predetermined point on the internal antenna for impedance matching with the external antenna when the portable unit is inserted into the mobile mount housing.
