  • Patent number: 5344696
Abstract: A laminate coating comprising a durable outer ply which is resistant to abrasion and impermeable to water, bonded to and through a conductive layer of fibers and an integrally enveloping adhesive layer which is disposed on a vehicle component surface, such that the laminate coating upon curing is bonded to the vehicle component surface such as the surface of an aircraft part especially the fuselage, wing parts or tail section. The conductive layer is connected to a source of electrical energy and control means adapted to control the temperature of the coated surface of the aircraft part.

Date of Patent: September 6, 1994
Inventors: Otis H. Hastings, Otis M. Hastings
  • Patent number: 4766420
Abstract: A laminate of integrally bonded components includes at least two electrically conductive plies, at least one structural element, and at least one radiant heat reflective ply. Each structural element and each radiant heat reflective ply is separated from the electrically conductive plies. These plies are isolated from each other by an electrically insulating fibrous, refractory, ceramic ply disposed therebetween and bonded thereto by means of an adhesive ply. Two of the electrically conductive plies are connected in series with an electrical source and an alarm to provide an intrusion signal upon penetration of the laminate by a conductive tool.
