  • Patent number: 4469367
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a support for a sun visor. The support includes a flat support member and a clamping spring which wraps around the support shaft for the sun visor at a cutout in the flat support member. The spring extends from a web wrapped around the mounting shaft and has arms extending past the opposite surfaces of the support member to beneath the support member. One arm of the clamping spring terminates in a hook defined by two successive bends. The other arm terminates in an inclined extension, and the extension terminates at a hooking edge at the bend in the second arm defining the extension. The hook of the first arm hooks behind the hooking edge of the second arm. The extension on the second arm defines a bevel for guiding the hook of the first arm behind the hooking edge. The hooking edge is defined in a window cut into the extension of the second arm.

  • Patent number: 4243086
Abstract: A clamp-like, slip-on nut for fitting on the edge of a support having a perforation therethrough, the nut being formed by bending a piece of sheet metal into a planar lower leg having a passageway therethrough and an upper leg having a structure forming a threaded aperture for receiving a screw inserted through the passageway, the perforation and the aperture, and a device for centering the aperture with the perforation including a substantially annular strip enclosing the passageway cut from the central portion of the lower leg, the strip being surrounded by a cutaway portion except for an integral connection between the strip and the leading edge portion of the lower leg, the strip rising slightly in its trailing edge portion toward the upper leg.

  • Patent number: 4201111
Abstract: A fastener including a sheet metal plate having a central stamped and apertured portion forming a screw thread, the aperture having a mean diameter sized approximately 5% less than the root diameter of a screw to be used therewith. The stamped portion is formed with a plurality of slits extending generally radially of the aperture and spaced equally around the thread to define a plurality of independent, generally equally sized sectors having contiguous edges and which sectors are adapted to tightly grip the root of the screw. In addition, a U-shaped, bent, sheet metal clamp adapted to slip over support bases to be fastened together is provided where the described sheet metal plate is one of the clamp's legs. The method of making this fastener includes the steps of forming the screw thread portion of the fastener in a metal plate, forming gapless slits in the screw thread portion, and forming a central aperture in the slitted screw thread portion.
